Inspiration – A Message From My Guides
Do you feel inspired? With the hectic pace of life today, it is relatively easy to keep your head down and just live day-to-day, without having time to notice much beyond your immediate purview. Whether you are consumed by a busy career, overextended with a heavily scheduled home life, or over-committed to extended family and friends, or all of the aforementioned, it can be difficult to find true inspiration for oneself.
But there is no time like the present! Make a small but important commitment to yourself. Lift your head. Look around. Take time to breathe. Spend some time alone. Read. Learn. Appreciate. Take inspiration from the world around you. Set healthy boundaries. Stop and smell the flowers. Enjoy good-news stories. Revel in others’ accomplishments. Know that if others can do it, so can you.
Some men see things as they are and say why – I dream things that never were and say why not ~ George Bernard Shaw
Are you inspiring? Some people find it difficult to see past their current situations. For a multitude of reasons, they do not feel that they will ever be healthy, wealthy or successful. Sometimes they are convinced that they do not have the stamina to put in the effort that will be needed to surmount their challenges and change their circumstances. They do not believe that they have the power to create a new, positive reality.
Be the light at the end of their tunnel. Teach by example. Show what is possible to achieve, even when you are inundated with your usual agenda. Maintain your own momentum. Even baby steps heading in the right direction are better than staying at a standstill.
You can do it! Whether you are surrounded by kids, family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues, or strangers, people are watching. Take your own personal inventory.
What is the impression you are leaving on others? Are you kind? Are you patient? Do you listen before making judgments or comments? Are you honest? Are you trustworthy? Are you ethical? Does your moral compass ever sway? Are you open to suggestions? Do you make excuses? Do you blame others? Do you persevere even in the face of unfavorable odds?
When others depend on you, are you on time? Do you keep your commitments? Are you helpful? Do you contribute to the success of others? Do you encourage? Do you apologize?
Are you short-tempered? Are you overwhelmed and highly stressed? Do you lash out at others just because they are close at hand. Do you over-promise and under-deliver? Are you self-medicating just to get through the day?
When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left and could say, I used everything you gave me ~ Erma Bombeck
Do you believe in yourself? Do you have faith that you will triumph? Have you surrounded yourself with a positive support system? Are your goals reasonable and attainable? Are you dreaming big enough? Can you visualize the difference you are making?
It takes many miles of ocean to turn a mighty ship. Similarly, it makes sense that some results in life cannot be seen immediately. Start your own course correction with small but significant changes.
Assume that your actions are being noticed. Smile. Listen. Be prepared. Step up. Offer support. Give the benefit of the doubt when warranted. Above, all, remember that it is always too soon to quit.
