Maybe This Is How We Mend Our World

For many of us lifetimes of pain also seem to rise to the surface now, as if this era has come to collect on both the debts and the blessings.

Some of my wounds in this lifetime occurred at a young and tender age, when there seemed to be no healing granted; when the best I could do then was retreat and lick my wounds alone. There was no wise elder at my side, no sacred ceremony to mark the grief, no balm from the spirit realms. Just the aching silence of pain, and the quiet hope that one day, perhaps, I would understand why.

Since that time so long ago, I have also seen much vindication. This ability to witness what I have called “the coming around of the going around,” hasn’t been only in seeing karmic issues resolved for little slights, but for big wounds as well.

I’ve watched as Spirit, with its own perfect timing, allowed clarity and closure to emerge…sometimes years later, sometimes through unexpected channels. There is a strange and sacred justice to the Universe that rarely moves on our schedule, but always, always moves.

Justice. Yes, always in the end. But what of forgiveness?

It all shifted for me when I came to know the ‘big picture’ in the powerful prayer, “forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those that trespass against us.” These words are not just religious rote, but an energetic key to spiritual evolution.

In history, the eye-for-an-eye mentality has been so pervasive for so long that many consider it the way life works. The carnage that has been heaped on countries in the form of genocide, for exmaple, and the bloody downfall of mighty civilizations can often be attributed to this mentality.

Forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hate. It is a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness ~ Corrie ten Boom

The words of Gandhi, who said “an eye for an eye makes us all blind,” ring true. Not only in the retributions of war, but also in our personal lives. It is a temptation to guard against: the seduction of righteous anger, the mental rehearsal of revenge, even the subtle pleasure of seeing someone “get what they deserve.” It is a deep human impulse, but also one that binds us to the lower vibrations of suffering.

Spiritual teachings are fairly explicit: forgive others, because we have all been on both sides of the trespassing fence. Perhaps in another lifetime, in another turn of the karmic wheel, you or I played the role of the wounder. We forget this. But our higher self, our soul does not forget.

Maybe it is high time to attempt to mend that fence?

And here is the miracle: when we forgive, not to condone, not to excuse, but to release, then we lift ourselves into a field of grace. Forgiveness does not mean allowing abuse, nor does it mean erasing memory. But it does mean choosing not to carry the burden of pain any longer. It means saying: I have suffered enough, and I now choose freedom.

Sometimes we aren’t even aware of someone we have trespassed against. Wounds echo across timelines. As we become more conscious, individually and culturally, we awaken to the essence of the teachings of our ascended masters. These teachings are not trapped in dusty texts, but live in the breath of our choices, in the pulse of our compassion.

We are being invited now, urgently, to transcend the old paradigms. The time of revenge, of eye-for-eye justice, of soul blindness, is crumbling. The new energies that blanket our Earth ask more of us: they ask for our healing, our courage, and our willingness to be the bridge.

On him that takes revenge, revenge shall be taken, and by a real evil he shall dearly pay for the goods that are but airy and fantastical; it is like a rolling stone, which, when a man hath forced up a hill, will return upon him with a greater violence ~ Jeremy Taylor

We are solely and deeply in need of bridging the gap into the new paradigm of the higher frequency vibrations of love, peace and understanding. These are not abstract ideals, but living forces that we must embody. Each act of true forgiveness sends a ripple through the collective field, anchoring a new possibility.

Forgiveness is sacred rebellion against despair. It is the quiet work of alchemy. And in these times, when the world feels increasingly uncertain, when the headlines offer so much sorrow, let us remember that our spiritual technology is ancient, wise, and always within reach.

Let us mend the fences. Let us be a little more kind, tolerant and accepting. Let us rise into the higher frequencies. Let us remember who we really are.

And in doing so, may we help usher in the world we have long yearned for…a world where trespasses become lessons, and wounds become wisdom.
