The Truth About Spiritual Growth

One increasingly sees social media influencers and self-appointed gurus preaching personal growth and development online. It has become a fad to sell such growth courses, services and products. But do these offerings represent and promote true spiritual growth?

Material growth can indeed be achieved with some discipline, determination, further education, hard work and proper use of one’s mental faculties. However, spiritual growth is a different matter. It cannot be bought, learned, or achieved with temporary efforts, for it is an organic, lifelong growth process. Always seeking with sincerity, patience and humility is to grow spiritually.

Our spiritual growth is something we are solely responsible for, and it is a process in which you alone can be your worst enemy, or best ally. This is the kind of growth where the reality of what you have been attracting into your life is exposed over time. Regardless of your choices, the only one who bears the responsibility and consequences is you.

Spiritual evolution is highly personal and individual. Other people and external situations cannot secure your spiritual expansion in this lifetime. It may be that the people and circumstances in your life are currently not resonating with you. If you want to grow spiritually and attract more of what you want, instead of what you do not want, trying to force situations or change other people is pointless.

The true spiritual seeker must also take care not to become caught up in a ‘savior mentality’ of thinking you need to save or open the minds of everyone around you. The spiritual choices of another is not your duty or responsibility. Your only responsibility is to personally evolve and inspire others by example through your own attitude and achievement.

Our life is like a mirror that reflects what is already within us. Your belief system or spiritual philosophy does not create your reality experience – your energy does. No matter whose teachings you follow, where you go, what you do, who you do it with, and where you do it, the Universe will always only reflect what you personally emanate.

Consider for a moment the current manifestation patterns in your life, as well as the spiritual teachings you study and practice. Contemplate if it is based in fear, or passion. Because if it is connected to passion and sincere interest, you will feel excited, motivated, hopeful, empowered, and eager to achieve your goals. However, if it is founded on fear, you will feel lost, depressed, anxious, sad, or hopeless, and the ideas and opinions of others will constantly influence your goals and plans. In this negative state we are easily contaminated with unwanted energies and ideas, and every little twist or opinion of others becomes another reason to lose faith or give up.

Honestly assess what pattern your energy vibration is currently emanating by becoming more aware of your daily thoughts and feelings. If it is not ideal, then determine which energy pattern you wish to vibrate instead. Pay more attention to what you read and watch, and who you admire and follow. For what you believe, think and feel today reflects what your future will hold.

Begin to raise your vibration every day and keep improving. If you make a mistake or have a bad day, simply correct it as soon as possible. Do not constantly compare yourself to others and focus on your failures, and avoid obsessing over your problems, because dwelling on it only attracts more of the same unwanted energy.

If you’ve made a mistake with someone, resolve it – for your benefit and that of others. The best thing in life is to be in a place of serene neutrality and peace towards others. Even if a person continues to have an issue with you, ensure that you have a clear conscience that you did your part in what needed to be resolved between the two of you.
