Protect Yourself With A Freezing Ritual
Rituals are a wonderful way to invite Spirit in to help you manifest the highest good in your life. When practiced faithfully, they can create deep transformation within you, strengthen your spiritual being, and manifest a shield of protection and power around you.
The ‘freezing’ ritual is one of my personal favorites in my own spiritual practice. It is powerful ritual for deflecting unreasonable people or situations, and protecting yourself from the negative energy they create.
‘Freezing’ the influence of negative people allows you to keep moving authentically and joyfully through your life, without unnecessary drains on your spirit or emotions. It is also an effective way to rebalance your own emotions and restore clarity. You can freeze energy drains, health problems, financial challenges or any outside conflicts that are keeping you stuck.
To perform this ritual you will need:
- One qua or white votive candle
- Incense – ocean, sage or rain (optional)
- One small seashell or pebble
- A piece of brown paper (grocery sack or lunch bag paper)
- Pen
- Zipper lock bag (sandwich size)
- Salt
It would be easy to become a victim of our circumstances and continue feeling sad, scared or angry; or instead, we could choose to deal with injustice humanely and break the chains of negative thoughts and energies, and not let ourselves sink into it ~ Erin Gruwell
Wear white or aqua for this ritual. Play calming meditation music, or sit near a running water fountain. The effects of this ritual will start to take effect within hours, depending on how long it takes the bag to freeze.
To begin the freezing ritual, light your incense, and then use it to light the candle. Holding the incense stick upright, pass the seashell or pebble through the smoke three times to charge and cleanse it. Then place the shell or pebble on the table above your piece of brown paper.
On the paper, write your request to the Universe to ‘freeze’ the negative vibrations coming from the person, or situation, diffusing any attempts they are creating to upset, harm or defame you with.
I ask that Spirit freeze and block all negative, upsetting and angry energy coming from ______. Protect me from any malefic intent and emotions this situation is creating, so I may continue to think and act in my own best interest, free of their interfering influence. And I will do my part.
Always end your intention writing with, “And I will do my part.” Your part might be, for example, to not call an ex-boyfriend after freezing him. More often than not, our part is to stay out of the way and not stir the waters of the situation. At the bottom, sign and date your request.
Fold the paper in half, and then in half again. Place it along with the shell or pebble into the zipper lock bag. Sprinkle a pinch of salt into the bag for grounding, then fill it with enough water to cover the paper. The bag may expand as it freezes, so leave a few inches of room at the top. Seal the bag and place it in the freezer where it won’t spill or be disturbed.
It’s the simplest properties that will help you clear yourself of negativity … The profound power of a simple prayer. The strength of a deep breath. The gentle guidance of good music ~ Jeffrey Wands
After 12 to 24 hours, check the bag to make sure it is frozen solid. If it is still liquid, move it to another section in your freezer. Notice if the water is clear or foggy, cracked, or frozen in a misshapen manner, as these signs are evidence that the ritual is working to congeal the energy.
Energies or emotions of an extreme nature can often require more than one freezing. After your initial freezing wait two days and if things haven’t improved, repeat the ritual again, leaving both bags in the freezer. This can be done up to three times. Most importantly, do not remove bag from the freezer until at least three months have passed since things have been resolved.
