Pet Loss And Grief From A Psychic Perspective

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comLosing a pet can be one of the most devastating things we go through. Many people are caught off guard emotionally when their animals transition. And too often the people around us do not understand the strong bond that can be formed between a human and their animal. They might say insensitive things like, “It’s only an animal. Just get another one.” These attitudes are not useful or helpful when grieving any kind of a loss.

The connection with an animal companion can be very deep and profound. They have no pretense. We do not need to wonder what kind of a mood our pet companions are in, and how it will influence our connection to them. Our animal companions join us on this planet to teach us about pure and unconditional love.  So, they always emanate this energy to us.

Rarely do our fellow humans express this level of unconditional love. Our animal friends are nearly always available to us when we need them. This is certainly not true of our fellow humans.

When we lose an animal companion, it is important for us to recognize the depth of their connection to us and understand that the pain of grief is real. I can remember my teacher asking, when we approached this topic of grief and loss, “Do you give yourself permission to go through the grief?”

It is also important to support ourselves in whatever way is necessary, when it comes to the loss of a beloved pet. Whether this means joining a support group, going to a therapist that specializes in grief and bereavement, and honoring wherever we are at in the process. There is a plethora of resources online related to pet loss and grief support.

Until one has loved an animal, a part of one’s soul remains unawakened ~ Anatole France

Now, let’s look at this from a psychic perspective. There are many things that are valuable to know when it comes to the loss of a pet. Please understand that these things do not normally satiate the grieving process, but they can certainly diminish some of the challenging questions surrounding the loss of a pet.

You did nothing wrong. In a loving, healthy, and balanced human-animal companionship the question often arises, “Could I have done more?” The answer is simply, no. There is nothing more you could have done for your beloved animal friend. We have a soul contract with our animal companions, which means that when this contract has effectively run its course, it is time for your pet to move on from the physical plane of existence. Love is the ultimate healer, and if there was more that you could have done for your beloved animal, love would have naturally motivated you to take those steps. If you had to make difficult decisions related to the transition of your pet, know that these steps were already prearranged between you and your pet before each of you incarnated on this planet.

The love you shared was real. Love is always an eternal force. It cannot diminish or die, so even when the dynamics of the relationship changes, because our animal companion has passed, the love that you shared with your animal companion was real and will persist forever. Energy does not die, it only changes form.

Your animal companions to not leave you. Sometimes our animal companions will remain with us in Spirit for an extended period and there are other times that our animal companions will choose to incarnate into another physical form to share more time with us.

Grief is so painfully real, regardless of its origin. The love of, and attachment to, an animal friend can equal that of human relationships. Likewise, the loss of an animal can be just as devastating ~ Rev. Joel L. Morgan

Your animal companion is dedicated to your joy and love. When your animal companion was in physical form their goal was to uplift your spirit. They are our greatest teachers pertaining to love, joy, beauty, surrender, and serenity. In their passing, they want us to remember this about them and understand that their vision about our sense of well-being has not changed. Their main goal is still our advancement in these areas, and they do not desire their passing to diminish our ability to experience these things. That is not to say that we can push aside grief, but rather, when we are feeling sadness or grief, we allow ourselves to feel it fully and honestly, so that we can move beyond the darkness back into the light.

Please remember that you are not alone in your loss and you do not need to do it alone. If you have recently experienced a loss, find those that will support you thought this challenging transition. Give yourself permission to feel and take the steps necessary for your own growth and healing. It may seem like this grief will last forever, but it will not. The more honest you can be with yourself and your feelings, the easier it will be to experience the transition fully and step into the light and love that is the connection between yourself and your beloved animal companion.
