A healthy body is home to a happy soul. Growing up we were taught of the four basic food groups, but we never learned much more about healthy eating. Vegetables never played much of a role in my life.
I have faced challenges with my weight in recent years and it remains a daily challenge. Some of my clients have had it much worse and have been struggling since childhood. For them it has almost been like a ‘weight demon’ that has been attached to them all their lives. These people sometimes call me looking for help, after they had tried so many other things to lose the weight. It often has cost them a fortune.
A healthy body is a guest-chamber for the soul; a sick body is a prison ~ Francis Bacon
Over the years I have experienced guilt so often eating something that I was not supposed to eat, while I had been working hard so on that diet. But there is more to weight loss than mere willpower, or mind over matter. The foundation for you weight loss attempts has to be firm. This consists of discovering why you gained weight in the first place. There is often an underlying emotional or psychological cause. Once you have that figured out, you also need to educate yourself about how to eat and what to eat. Losing weight is about living healthily, not starving yourself or trying fad diets.
I am proud to say I have been making progress myself and have lost 33 pounds to date. I have even tried asparagus for the first time recently, and they were not too bad after all. I there is one simple tip I can offer anyone trying to lose weight it is this: eat more veggies… and stay away from the fizzy sodas. These days I drink peach tea.
God gave us the bounty of delicious fruits and veggies to provide nutrition for the human body. Make the most of these gifts. In the long run it going to be worth it. Life is too short to eat bad food. Weight loss should not be about suffering, it should be a joyous journey into self awareness.
