How To Have A More Peaceful, Contented Life
Wouldn’t it be nice if life was always easy and we didn’t have to deal with any stress and arguments between loved ones. Imagine a world where everyone got along really well, where everybody was happy and content, and there was no struggle, so that the short while we all were on this planet could just be enjoyable!
I decided to ask my spirit guide what we could all be more aware of in order to have greater peace, contentment and joy in our lives. The response somewhat surprised me.
“Sleep,” said Spirit. Adequate sleep is one vital thing most humans on this planet are no longer getting enough of. If everyone had proper sleep habits, everybody would get along much better. I then asked how could we get better sleep, as most people work, have families to take care of, and many other responsibilities. And spirit said it has to be a conscious choice and a habitual routine. To improve our sleep our priorities have to change.
There are so many stresses and diversions in modern life that people seldom make the right choices anymore. We devote our time daily to things that deprive us of a good night’s sleep. There really should be no need for drugs to help us sleep, if we just changed our daily routine and made better choices.

“Pride,” said Spirit is the next key to a more peaceful life. Spirit says that when we don’t get along and there is dis-ease between people, we obsess over it. Before we fall asleep we go over and over it in our heads. We spend hours blaming ourselves and others. We plot revenge, we refuse to forgive. These thoughts take up a lot of space in the mind and makes it hard for people to go about their daily lives in a stress-free manner.
Pride destroys wonderful relationships. Family gatherings, which is a very rare thing these days, only happens once or twice a year often due to strife and pride. Pride destroys wonderful connections. We are all connected, and pride destroys the flow of how things are supposed to go. It sets up roadblocks for all kinds of wonderful things that could potentially happen between people.
Things just fall into place, and things are more in Zen, when we learn to eliminate pride in our lives. I asked Spirit what we can do when we have achieved this ourselves, but we still have to deal with people who are attached to their pride? Spirit said that sometimes we have to create a little space between the person and ourselves if there’s nothing we can do to remedy the situation. We can lift them up from a distance with good thoughts, prayer, and meditation.
“Thoughts,” continued Spirit is also vital for our peace of mind. Being very careful about what we think about, being mindful of our thoughts, will change what kind of energy we attract in life. It’s very important to think positive thoughts and visualize what we want, and how we wish things to unfold, as that paves the way for how things actually happen in our lives.

The mind is vitally important when it comes to manifesting our reality. Spirit says many people know this, but only some of us believe it, and we very rarely practice it, or we practice it for a time and then it becomes ‘old hat’ and we give in to our old ways.
So, proper sleep, getting rid of pride, and being very careful about what we think about, can help us to have a much more enjoyable, peaceful life and healthier relationships with others. We all have heard these things, Spirit emphasized, but very rarely do we take steps to do something about it where real change happens for the better.
