The Mystical Power Of Mirrors

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comI just had a debate with a colleague about using a mirror as a divination tool, also known as scrying. She was adamant that the only type of mirror which can be used for scrying is a black mirror, which is made of darkened, smoky glass. In my experience this is not necessarily true.

I explained to her that one evening, in a dimly-lit hotel room, whilst I was brushing my hair in the mirror, I saw to my left, via my peripheral vision, my grandfather sitting in the room’s armchair. He was smiling at me, and I remember this vision like it was yesterday.

I had only ever met my paternal grandfather twice, as a toddler, and I had almost no recollection of him at all, other than photos of him I was shown in later years. What I was told, on two occasions by psychics years later, is that he was always around me and that he would never allow any harm to come to me.

My point is, with just an ordinary mirror, in a dimly-lit room, I experienced psychic phenomena. And, perhaps with just with a couple of candles in a darkened room, this alternative type of mirror divination could be developed?

The debate with my colleague then had me thinking about mirrors in general. Although I am no expert in the field of Feng Shui, I have come to believe that the correct positioning of mirrors, according to Feng Shui teachings, can be very beneficial energetically. And so, I do my best to incorporate the little knowledge I have when it comes to placing mirrors in my home and office.

There tends to be confusion about mirrors to those unfamiliar with all of the rules of Feng Shui. Mirrors are often misrepresented as negative objects, and although they can have an adverse effect when positioned incorrectly, they are also thought to be one of the ‘nine basic cures’ of that discipline. These ‘cures’ are used to boost particular areas in our homes and even work-space, and to deflect the sha chi (negative energy).

The intention with which we use a mirror metaphysically, will determine the resulting benefits. If you use mirrors to expand a small space, you will double the positive energy of a pleasant, symbolic object reflected by a mirror. Use your intuition to gauge whether any inside or outside object or structure feels peaceful or menacing. For example, a depressing tower block. I try and place a mirror so that it reflects a pleasant view or calming image. When I look in my current office mirror, I can see both the hills and a large wall-hanging I have of the beautiful Desiderata poem.

Mirrors can also be great tools for accentuating affirmations. If your self-esteem is low, try saying the following each time you pass your favorite mirror: “I love you. You are beautiful, loved and worthy.”

The mirror reflects all objects without being sullied ~ Confucius

If you are new to mirror affirmations, first hold your head up high and, with your shoulders pulled back, look deeply into your own eyes. Breathe deeply and say your affirmation out loud. I have witnessed simple, regular affirmations having a huge impact on people’s lives when done daily. If you can manage to repeat your affirmation both on awakening and then before settling down for the night, you will notice a profound shift occurring within yourself, and in your general circumstances.

I was first introduced to affirmations in my early teens by my father. When we were out walking the dogs, he would ask me to recite with him over and over, for at least ten minutes, the words of Emile Couė: “Every day in every way, I am getting better and better.”
