What Your Face Is Telling You
There is an ancient belief system that everything can be seen in one’s face. Your emotional state, your physical state, warnings, strengths and weaknesses. Lines on the forehead are said to represent issues with the intestines. Lines between the eyebrows, just above the eyes, represent issues with the liver, while lines under the eyes represent issues with the kidneys. Lines or swelling of the nose represent issues with the heart, and lines above the lip, below the nose, represent issues with the sexual organs.
Lines or wrinkles are inevitable. However, we have all seen someone in their 20s who has lines as deep and prolific as an 80 year old, and sometimes you see an 80 year old who has the skin of a 25 year old. What is their secret?
Health is a state of complete harmony of the body, mind and spirit. When one is free from physical disabilities and mental distractions, the gates of the soul open ~ B.K.S. Iyengar
Sun exposure, genetics and diet have a lot to do with the lines that form on our face. Sugars and fats can create deep and pronounced horizontal, or yin lines. Excessive amounts of salt and animal products create vertical lines. If you have both it means your eating too much salt, animal products, fats and sugars.
Most wrinkles from sun damage are actually created when we are babies, children and teenagers. It is essential to put an organic, natural, toxin-free sunscreen on your children. Our ozone is much thinner than it was even when we were children, so the sun level of intensity is even more dangerous for our children that is was for us.
Dehydration can cause premature aging. Eight glasses of water a day is the minimum. If you exercise you should get even more. Minimize sugary drinks, including fruit juices which can contain the sugars of six pieces of fruit without the fiber to slow the sugar from booming into the blood stream. Six pieces of fruit is way more sugar than the body can process and you will see sugar excess show up on your face. Alcohol and coffee also dehydrate the body and will show up in the face and skin.
Drugs and cigarettes deplete oxygen to the heart and circulatory system, therefore creating a lack of oxygen, blood flow and nutrients from going to the skin. These are a few of the aging toxins to the skin. I had a friend who smoked and was only 32. He stopped when his child was born (often they teach us more than we teach them) and he literally looked like he was 10 years younger a few years later.
The doctor of the future will no longer treat the human frame with drugs, but rather will cure and prevent disease with nutrition ~Thomas Edison
I work as a yoga instructor and healer with many people who want to slow down the aging-process naturally. When they cut out caffeine, sugar and alcohol, and cut out or minimize animal products, they can literally take off ten years from the skin. It takes time for the change to take place but it is so worth it. On top of that they feel better and have more energy. There is nothing more valuable than feeling and looking young! This energy, joy and vibrancy will be shared with your partner, children, and employers or employees.
Remember anything we put on the skin – lotion, makeup, sunscreen – goes directly into the organs. Your skin is your biggest organ. Our skin is also a direct reflection of what is going on within our entire system. I you don’t like what you see in the mirror, you can change it naturally from within. I find that people who grow old naturally and look great for their age tend to have an easier transition from youth to the true beauty of wisdom!
There is also a connection between our eyes and our digestive, endocrine and nervous systems. There is a direct connection to the brain. The back of the eye has an optic nerve that is connected to the brain. Eye movements can therefore stimulate certain parts of the brain. If someone is on drugs, you can see the change in their eyes, and therefore the trauma to the brain. The condition of the liver and brain can also be seen in the eyes.
Sanpaku
The Japanese word sanpaku literally means three (sans) white (baku). It refers to a condition where the eye represents three white sides, or areas of the iris. The more white showing the more severe the condition.
When too much white is showing on the bottom of the iris and the sides it means there is too much yin food or energy in the body. When too much white is showing at the top and sides of the iris it means the food we eat translates into energy, and has a profound impact on our internal healing mechanisms.
Today, more than 95% of all chronic disease is caused by food choice, toxic food ingredients, nutritional deficiencies and lack of physical exercise ~ Mike Adams
It is believed there is too much yang food or energy in the body. This is represented by muscles, the brain, the heart and all organs becoming too loose. Practically everyone in modern society are somewhat sanpaku. Most people do look more sanpaku when looking straight head. The true test is to look in eyes when one is looking up 45 degrees.
Severe sanpaku can create mental illness, violence and sociopathic behavior. This can be seen by looking at notorious anti-social personalities like OJ Simpson and Charles Manson.
The food we eat translates into energy, and has a profound impact on our internal healing mechanisms. With the exception of seaweed, all fruits and vegetables are yin foods. Fish, meat, eggs, and nearly all other animal foods are yang. The sweeter the food is, the more yin energy it holds. Saltiness is a yang characteristic. Any form of salt, caviar, and aged, salty cheeses are very yang foods.
Balance is the key to aging gracefully. In exchange our emotional chemistry will also be more dignified and graceful. We are what we eat, think, breath and do!
