Peace Is To Be Found Right Here
Sunday being my day off from my daily job, I finally decided to spend a few hours at the lake. Born and raised on an island, water has always brought me peace and clarity. It is small lake, about 15 minutes from my house. Unfortunately, it being a Sunday, was not the ideal time to seek peace here.
It was a really nice dry sunny day, which brought many people to the water on the same mission. The park was too crowded to find any inner peace. So, I left after an hour and decided to make my own lake! I had an old tub sitting in my back yard awaiting a new lease of life. After a strong deep scrub and rinse, I filled it with cold water and sat there on the rim, with my legs immersed in the healing water.
Peace is present right here and now, in ourselves and in everything we do and see. Every breath we take, every step we take, can be filled with peace, joy, and serenity. The question is whether or not we are in touch with it. We need only to be awake, alive in the present moment ~ Thích Nhất Hạnh
It may sound stupid, but sitting out there in the early morning hours, when the world was not up yet, felt just as good as being at the lake. It felt great not only because the cool water was refreshing, but because it turned out to such a lovely, quiet time… rich with fulfillment. In the stillness of a hot summer morning, with only a slight breeze caressing my hair, I was hearing God and the Angels speaking to me. The gentle light of the moon was still on, and a couple of birds flying around, which made me really feel like I was in Heaven.
You may wonder, what is this message about? The message here is simply that we often try to run off somewhere, in order to find balance and peace. And more often than not, peace is to be found right here, around us, sometimes in the most unusual places. I have felt so much joy and internal peace sitting in my back yard, imagining to be in a boat, with my legs immersed in water, and I created the perfect inner space for clarity, meditation, love and deep desires. I did not need to escape or venture somewhere to find that peace.
My day did not start well at the lake, but instead of been miserable and negative, I turned an unpleasant day, into a really happy one. When we set ourselves on a path, we need to follow what we planned. So if today we decide to make this day special, we just need to do it, even when we see obstacles, distractions and fear around us. Just keep following your path and stay true to your intention.
