When Spirit Says Thank You From The Other Side
If you enjoy ghost stories that prove the existence of an afterlife and demonstrate spirit communication from beyond, you may be interested in the following account of a genuine supernatural event among my family and friends.
When he was younger, one of my cousins used to hang out with a group of friends who often got into harmless mischief. They were inseparable.
One of his closest friends eventually got married and lost his job soon after. Unfortunately, he quickly got into debt, his wife left him, and he had a very challenging relationship with his mother. His debts spiraled, he could not find a new job, and his wife showed no signs of wanting to reconcile.
The poor guy felt doomed, believing that life would never improve for him, no matter how hard he tried. Nothing changed, and things only got worse. Seeing no way out, he drove into the woods near his home one cold November night and ended his life.
I only wish I had had the opportunity to speak with him before he took this drastic step. I would have told him that life is too precious to contemplate such a thing. In fact, I emphasize to anyone considering suicide that they need to seek professional help immediately.
Nevertheless, it was too late to save my cousin’s dear friend.
He left a note for his friends, stating that he didn’t want his wife nor his mother at his funeral. He also asked that they sell the van in which he passed away to pay for the funeral, as he had no other means of funding it.
Love is our origin and our final destination. Our spirit was animated by the loving energy of a higher power, and as we release our last breath our spirits will dissipate back into that love ~ Brendon Burchard
His friends decided to honor his wishes, but they decided not to sell the van. Instead, they pooled their resources, and thanks to the generosity of friends, relatives and neighbors, they managed to pay for his funeral.
After the funeral, my cousin and his friends took the van in which their friend had died to the same woods where he passed away and burned it. They doused the van in gasoline and set it on fire. Then, incredibly, the horn suddenly beeped three times! To everyone’s amazement, the lights also started flashing on and off.
Could short circuits caused by melting wires or another form of electrical distress have caused this? Or maybe it was due to battery damage activating the car’s alarm system. Or was it due to the extreme heat warping or melting the horn?
Or was it simply their friend thanking them for the favor they had done him?
My cousin told me later that the horn had started beeping moments before the car was set on fire. This instantly made sense to me. In my years of paranormal research, I have seen on several occasions that spirit can express gratitude through indirect communication, just as my cousin’s friend did in that moment.
I have had a couple of unusual supernatural experiences of my own.
Many years ago, when I worked in community care, I took care of a wonderful 90-year-old man. Sadly, his wife was dying in a hospice at the time, and it was hard for me to see him go through such a difficult period.
Let us be grateful to the people who make us happy; they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom ~ Marcel Proust
One day, shortly after her passing, I went to visit him. When I entered his room, the distinct smell of lavender filled the air.
“What is that lovely smell?” I asked.
“It’s just my wife letting me know she’s still around,” he replied.
He told me that his wife loved lavender perfume. She would always wear it as soon as he gave her a bottle, to show her appreciation.
In case you’re wondering, he didn’t spray the house with her perfume out of grief. One of my duties was to clean every nook and cranny of his house, and I assure you that during my entire time there, I never came across a single bottle of lavender perfume, essential oil, or air freshener.
When my sister passed, her husband left her entire estate to a neighbor, leaving me with nothing to remember her by. Recognizing this, my mother gave me a ring that my sister had given her many years ago when she was just 16. She told me that now I had something special to remember her by.
Since the ring didn’t fit my finger, I wore it around my neck on a chain. One night, just before going to bed, I took off my necklace and the ring fell off and rolled under the bed. My husband told me not to worry because he would find the ring the next day.
Sure enough, when I woke up the next morning, the ring was on my bedside cabinet. I thanked my husband for finding it. To my amazement, however, he said he confessed he had completey forgotten about it. It was not him who had retrieved the ring and he had no idea how it got there.
Could my deceased sister have been showing me her wish for me to have her ring by placing it where I found it? As always, dear reader, I leave that for you to decide.

Unfortunately, many people perceive spirit visitations and supernatural events as scary and malevolent when, in fact, this is mostly not the case. This is largely due to sensationalized portrayals in popular culture. Misconception often leads to fear and misunderstanding, overshadowing the diverse and frequently benign nature of such occurrences.
In truth, the vast majority of these occurences and spirit encounters are benevolent, comforting, or profoundly meaningful rather than menacing. Experiences can range from a subtle sense of their presence or a familiar scent to vivid dream visitations or even seeing apparitions of deceased loved ones. These phenomena are often signs of connection, guidance, or simply a lingering energetic presence.
Beyond the initial surprise or apprehension, embracing these experiences with an open heart can transform your perception of them. Instead of fearing the unknown, view these encounters as tender whispers from beyond. They are gentle reminders that love, connectexperion, and life extend far beyond our physical perception.
These moments can be incredibly healing, offering solace in grief, clarity in times of doubt, and a profound sense of peace in knowing that our bonds of affection transcend the veil between worlds.
