How To Manifest What You Really Want
I have, for at least 40 years now, been a deliberate creator, and passionate practitioner of the Law of Attraction. Nevertheless, when I first started working with this fantastic cosmic law, I noticed that I often manifested almost the exact opposite of what I was hoping for!
How could this be, I asked myself? After all, I had read all the books, did the meditations and vision boards, was thinking positively, and even bought the incense. Why wasn’t I getting what I wanted?
The answer came to me in time. It was because I was inadvertently counter-manifesting. This can happen so easily when we attempt to manifest – particularly in one’s early days of learning the art of cosmic ordering.
Okay, so how does one manage to counter-manifest and, more importantly, how do you avoid it?
Align Your Energy
First and foremost, if our energy vibration does not match what we are wanting to attract, we simply cannot draw it towards us. Like attracts like, remember? No amount of visualization or list-making is going to make any difference if we are not in a positive, open state of mind and elevated mood. We have to be ready to welcome whatever it is we have set an intention for.
Therefore, the first golden rule of successful manifestation is to raise your energy vibration with some healthy self-work and personal investment. By doing so, you will begin to attract more good things into your life, rather than drawing those things that you do not want.

Focus On The Desire
When trying to think positively, a lot of people have a strong tendency to focus on what they do not want. Fear is the prime driving force behind this. True, dealing with anxiety can be a tough thing. However, the way around this is to purposefully focus on the desired end result, irrespective of any underlying circumstances or potential obstacles.
Whenever you feel your mind wandering to what you fear, and not what you desire, it is essential that you immediately refocus your attention to the desired end result. You do not have to try to figure out exactly how the end result will manifest or is to be arrived at. Simply imagine that end result in the here and now. Then put your faith in the Universe to move those mountains for you – because it will!
Acknowledge Your Worth
You must acknowledge what you deserve in this life. Douglass Weiss wrote, “When you know your worth, no one can make you feel worthless”. Adopt some healthy self-talk by telling yourself you do deserve that job promotion, or that loving relationship, or healthy, prosperous life. By telling yourself otherwise, you may attract the opposite instead! You see, the Law of Attraction never fails, but it works both ways.
Consider for a moment some of those ‘not so nice’ people we encounter in life. We all know them. Despite them not being very kind or compassionate towards others, they still have the money, career, marriage, mansion, glamorous lifestyle. Are they more worthy than you to have those things?
So, why do they have them, and you don’t? Are they any smarter, more attractive, more likeable, more charitable, more deserving? More than likely, the answer is no. However, what they are doing, that perhaps you are not, is being more confident about what they want and what they feel they deserve. They have taken on board a sense of self-worth. True, they may not morally justified in having this sense of entitlement, but nevertheless, by doing so, they are attracting what they want in life. And you can do the same!
The reason why success comes so easy and naturally for one person and is a struggle for another is because one person thinks the way he wants to think and another person thinks against himself ~ Sadhguru
Avoid The Naysayers
Avoid the cynical ‘killjoys’ and ‘negative nellies.’ These are the kind of folk who will say, “Oh, you will never achieve this, or manage to do that.” Only you know what you can achieve, nobody else. Sadly, such people do not want you to be successful or happy, because they aren’t either. Furthermore, such envious, negative individuals tend to have low self-esteem, and thus instill self-doubt in others. They prefer that you feel as miserable as they do. Keep a healthy distance from such people, not only for the sake of your emotional well-being, but also that you can begin to attract what you truly need and deserve in your life, instead of what they want to choose for you!
Forget The Past
My guides taught me many years ago that because we have failed in the past, or not achieved a desired goal, it does not mean it will also be the case in the future. History cannot keep on repeating itself. But, by dwelling on past failures, it does not exactly help in attracting future success. Remind yourself that your past does not define you, and whatever has happened in the past has gone. Do not let past failures prevent you from expecting and attracting a positive future.
Goals are like magnets. They’ll attract the things that make them come true ~ Tony Robbins
Take Practical Action
It is important to realize that no matter how good you are at visualization, prayer, positive thinking or saying affirmations, the Universe is not going to just magically deliver everything on your lap every time you ask for something. What the Universe does do, however, is bring opportunities your way for you to seize and act upon, so that you can manifest what your heart desires.
In short, the Universe will meet you halfway, but you have to take the first action steps from your side. You will need to be positive, proactive and focused on acquiring the desired end result, to achieve your goals. And you will have to be willing to roll up your sleeves to take advantage of the opportunities that come your way. Half-hearted attempts to improve your life will simply produce limited, or no results.
Leave Your Comfort Zone
You cannot change your life and achieve new things, if you remain stuck in a lazy rut and keep playing it safe. Yes, getting out of your comfort zone can seem somewhat challenging to start with, but if you keep setting yourself easy, comfortable goals, or worse still, have no goals at all, then you cannot expect your particular set of circumstances to change for the better. Allow yourself to become genuinely optimistic and excited about accomplishing challenging, new goals. Your new life will only begin outside your comfort zone.
