Your Intuition Is Always Right
We are often told to follow our instincts, or trust our ‘gut.’ But what does it really mean?
From a psychic perspective, intuition is the sixth sense, the way we are able to perceive things beyond the scope of our five senses. Some people call it the ‘little voice’ within. We all have it, and unless we use it on a regular basis, it may not be as sharp as we need it to be.
If we fail to listen to our intuition, we may find ourselves making poor decisions, which often lead to confusion, misunderstanding, and strife. Then, when it is too late, we often wonder why we didn’t go with our intuition!
It is often said that the first instinct is usually right. That ‘little voice’ we are hearing is actually the voice of the Universe and the Divine speaking directly to us. Whether or not you follow a particular spiritual tradition or religion, cultures around the world have always had an understanding of this phenomenon. It is also the concept behind prayers and mantras being answered directly. When we speak directly to the Divine, it speaks back to us. Its intent is always benevolent, so, even if the answer is no, or isn’t what we’d hoped for, it is in our best interest to take it to heart.

In our world, we are conditioned from a very young age to ignore our intuition in favor of logic, reason and hard facts. When we make decisions that we come to regret, or second-guess ourselves, chances are we’re going along with conditioning and making the ‘logical’ choice, instead of the intuitive one.
Intuition isn’t logical at all, which is why many of us tend to lose that power beyond childhood. But it never goes away, and it is fully within our power to rediscover this amazing ability.
Regaining your intuitive abilities doesn’t have to be an ordeal. When faced with a decision, listen to that quiet, small voice inside. Ask the universe and your spirit guides in prayer or meditation. Unless the decision is extremely time-sensitive, you will have time to reflect and come to the right conclusion. Because we live in a society that values time-efficiency over deliberate and careful thought, most of us make hasty decisions which aren’t always right for us.

If you haven’t been listening to your intuitions, maybe you’ve already suffered in your personal or professional life. Perhaps you’ve dealt with disappointment or broken relationships. The good news is, intuition, like any other part of yourself, can be strengthened with time and practice. Take time each day to unplug from incoming stimuli and simply listen, being present in the moment.
Journal about anything that’s troubling you and hear what your intuition has to say about it. Chances are it’s a lot! Think of your intuition as a radio which you must tune to the right frequency. It’s always broadcasting, it’s always on, and it will never lead us astray, as long as we’re willing to listen.
