How I Read With Ordinary Playing Cards

Get a FREE psychic reading right now at PsychicAccess.comI do readings using a normal deck of playing cards, the kind you buy at your grocery store. This form of divination is known as cartomancy.

Cartomancy originates from the 14th century, when playing cards were first introduced to the world. Some historians claim that it might even date back to Ancient Egypt.

Using an ordinary deck of cards was the most popular form of cartomancy for centuries, especially in Europe from the 18th to the 20th century. Today a standard deck of playing cards has, however, become the little brother of the Tarot cards. These days many people find it unusual that someone would be using a regular deck of playing cards to predict the future.

In order to give the most accurate reading I use specific set of techniques when I use cartomancy to predict future events. First of all, I tune in with my client and I make sure that I am tune with my spirit guides.

If a client has had a bad day or if they are upset, it helps a lot if they clear their mind as much as possible before we start the reading. If a client is not feeling well I usually recommend they hold off on the reading, because their energy is too low. Reading for someone in this state usually does not yield very good results.

Before you make a phone call for your next psychic reading, take three deep breaths and let them out very slowly. If you are having a bad day, take seven deep breaths and slowly let them out. You will be very surprised how much this will relieve your tension or your stress, before you make this phone call. You will also find that your reading experience is much more enjoyable and meaningful.

Next, I ask for the client’s age and hair color, so I can determine which court card I will use to represent them in the reading. I use three decks for readings, which I keep in a cloth bag for protection. I ask the client to pick deck one, two or three and then I pull the appropriate court card out of the deck they select. I then take the deck of cards, turn it over and bang it onto the table really hard. This helps to focus me and clear the energy from the last reading. I then proceed with the reading.

I also experience smells, sounds, ‘flashes’ or visions during readings. I pick these up at times, as I put my hand over the cards to feel the energy emanating from some of the cards.

Each player must accept the cards life deals him or her: but once they are in hand, he or she alone must decide how to play the cards in order to win the game ~ Voltaire

Timing is usually a challenge. When clients ask for a date when something will happen, it can be very difficult at times to pin-point accurately. When the card is facing up, I have learnt through experience that it means it will probably happen soon. When cards are facing down, it shows that the outcome will be delayed.

Cartomancy using ordinary playing cards remains a very accurate form of divination and, although it is less fashionable these days, it will never disappear.

  • Raymond, I recently heard at a lecture that playing cards have their origins in Atlantis and store owners have regularly complained that whenever decks are changed from its original look, they never sell. Talk about the power of ancient symbols!
