Soulmates, Soul Groups And Soul Contracts
I find that many people in the spiritual and metaphysical communities are looking for their ‘soulmate.’ So what is a soulmate? What does this term mean to you?
A soulmate is often defined as the individual that we can completely resonate with, that we can truly love and that they truly love us back unconditionally. In reality, however, due to our humanness, this may not always be possible and then we may become obsessed with the search for a soulmate. In that search sadly we often miss truly wondrous opportunities to connect with love in the most unusual or unexpected places.

So, why do we fixate on soulmates? The reason is because we crave love. For the majority of people, the pinnacle of human connection is having achieved such a true, ultimate spiritual connection with another individual. It is what we attest to in the ceremony of marriage, the birth of a child, and so forth.
But maybe we should choose to expand our view of a soulmate as being an individual that we have the deepest admiration, respect, love and positive connection with. Then as we look around, with this new definition in mind, we will see that each of us has many, many soulmates.
We should change our paradigm from being one of soulmates having to be our intimate romantic relationship to that of being simply a deep, compassionate heartfelt connection. Then our relationships have the potential of attracting so much more, including the pinnacle connection of true love. Soulmates available to you abound throughout the world. Your universal connection can be instantaneously expanded beyond your wildest belief.
There are also times that we occasionally encounter individuals who trigger a déjà vu moment, which gets our heart and our mind racing. Who is this? What is this? Is this finally my soulmate? This energetic connection activates cellular memory and this memory can be a representation from the current life, or potentially even a past life. This interaction opens up the possibility and probability that the person you have just met has entered your life to be of service, to teach you something, or to actually fulfill a promise made to you prior to your birth… and perhaps even to love you beyond your wildest expectation. This individual is potentially not only a new soulmate, but also a member of your soul group.
So, what is a soul group? For me, a soul group embodies individuals or entities in the spiritual expression of life who have unconditional love and commitment to the spiritual evolution of each other. They are willing to embody themselves within this reality as specific role models, as demonstrators of specific challenges or behaviors, to teach your soul an aspect of its evolution.

For example, it is believed by many that we choose our parents prior to birth such that we are going to be teaching them lessons in life or that they will be teaching us aspects of life for our spiritual growth. This can often come in the form of an unfavorable behavior or life circumstances that presents our soul the opportunity to learn forgiveness, patience, ability to love or to heal an event from a past life. The specific opportunities are numerous.
This now presents an incredible paradigm shift that allows you to look at an individual from the soul level. Beneath the anger, abuse, or neglect there is actually unconditional love for you. The soul in your life right now, physically in front of you, that you have negative experiences with and towards, has possibly put their spiritual evolution temporarily on hold to support your soul’s evolution. In the spiritual expression of life they actually love and adore you. What a gift that is. Do you see it? This means that even your greatest nemesis may be a gift.
I struggled with this concept, am still apprehensive, but subconsciously it has been integrated into me in such a way that I am actually less reactive to the individual.
Finally, you and your soul group members created soul contracts before becoming embodied in the physical body. Each of us made our individual personal contract not only to another member of the group, but to ourselves. By this I mean, for example, that my path might have included the contraction of a terminal illness in this lifetime, passing to Spirit at an early age, having a disability, or behaving in a manner that on the surface is abusive to self, or others.
Equally my life lesson may be to be extremely successful, but then to experience financial ruin, poverty or the feeling of lack. Through these life experiences, in support of my soul, I still maintain spiritual evolution.

There are many experiences or stories we see or read in the media that demonstrate events that we often say is “karma at its best”, or “some people just can’t get a break” or “how tragic.” In reality, coming from the place of compassion, we may question and be saddened by those events, but if you have the ability to be introspective and simultaneously offer compassion and blessings for their soul contract, then we each are contributing to that soul’s spiritual evolution.
When I come across road kill for example, I am naturally saddened by the event and circumstances, but say a blessing and give thanks to the animal’s spirit for having been around and being a part of nature’s beauty.
So, I encourage each of us on our life’s journey to know that there is an interconnection of all souls and that we have purpose in a contract that we negotiated and committed to prior to our arrival in our current physical body. We agreed to be here in these times, to be of service, and to assist others in their evolution.
I often joke that I wish I had read the ‘small print,’ or would have insisted that in the contract there was a clause that allowed me to renegotiate or modify the agreement as I evolve. In reality, I believe that there is through our choices a ‘virtual contract’ that is certainly modified as a result of our free will. There are, however, also clauses that we have put into our contract that are non-negotiable. Regardless, it is our personal responsibility to spiritually evolve and in order to do that we need to choose to re-evaluate our definitions, our expectations and our behaviors.
Go out into the world, looking for the countless soulmates available. Your soul group members who will re-enter your life as you heal and evolve, creating the space and spiritual vibration that invites them back in. Enjoy exploring the greater depths of your soul contract and when you feel disappointment, unhappiness and obstacles, know that you are in the perfect place. Your soul is reminding you that you have purpose, that you are love and loved, and that it is time to move onward and upward. The challenges are temporary if you choose wisely.
