Connecting With Your Pets Energetically

Click Here NOW for a FREE psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comI am the proud pet mama of two cats who could not be more different from one another. Francis is fearless. She’s an agile huntress who is always catching dragonflies and darting around the house. Merlin on the other hand, is slow and lazy. More content to make friends with mice and munch on leaves, he is a cat who just loves to love.

There was a time when Merlin went missing for some time. I was devastated! At first, I simply couldn’t believe it. We had just moved a considerable distance, so he was not at all familiar with the area and his new environment. He is an indoor cat that is afraid of grass and any kind of large moving objects (like boughs of trees moving in the wind). I was terrified for him.

After many days of fruitless, I was beginning to lose hope. I had put the word out with the local animal control and missing pet boards. My partner and I knocked on doors and wandered the neighbourhood nightly, calling out his name, but there was no sign of him at all.

In my heart, I knew Merlin was still out there. As the second week of his absence ended, I just had to try something new. I was willing to try anything at this point!

So, I consulted the Tarot. I asked where I might find him, or when he would come home, but my intensely clouded emotions made a clear, sensible reading impossible. Reading for oneself is generally not a good idea, much less when you are as distraught as I was at the time. The Tarot is  also not the ideal psychic tool for these kinds of questions.

Then I began researching energetic methods for finding a lost a pet. This is when I discovered an energy meditation known as the ‘golden thread,’ or the ‘golden cord.’ It is a simple visualization technique for connecting energetically with a pet.

When people call me about lost animals, especially cats, I always recommend that they do the golden cord exercise. If a cat is alive and not locked in somewhere, it almost always brings them home. It works well with dogs and other pets too ~ Mary Getten

Once the connection is established the idea is to communicate reassurance to the pet and encourage them to find their way home. One must do this frequently throughout the day to keep the connection open and to strengthen the frequency.

The first day I did the meditation, I felt strong reassurance that Merlin was not injured and that he was nearby. The second day was similar, but Merlin hadn’t come home yet, and I was beginning to wonder if this meditation was going to work. But I had to be vigilant not to allow my own fears to travel through the cord to Merlin. In this way the meditation also helped me to be mindful of my own thoughts and feelings and place my energetic focus positively on him instead.

On the third day I received a call from a neighbour. “Hey, we found your cat,” she said. At first I was hesitant to believe it. What if it was another cat! Any false hope would have been soul crushing at that point. But sure enough, they had found Merlin in front of their house. Not hiding, but walking around, looking for a way in.

I was stunned! Thrilled! My scaredy-cat -afraid-of-grass-and-loud-noises-and-moving-things had managed to find his way back home.

Once back inside and calmed down, Merlin looked at me and I saw something in his eyes I hadn’t witnessed before. There was a look of comprehension; a silent communication. I felt his energy through the golden cord, which by this time was so strong it felt like a warm glow in my chest. He knew. He also felt it. The connection and the communication was unlike anything I had experienced with any of my pets before. It was a profound moment.

I now continue to practice the golden thread meditation in order to communicate with both Francis and Merlin. I’ve been amazed at their response to this practice, as well as my own experience of it. I’ve always regarded my pets as being my companions or friends, rather than my subservient ‘domestic animals.’ Exploring this facet of connection has made my relationship with them even more special (if that is even possible). I certainly sense that my pets are loving this extra attention and energetic acknowledgement.

If you wish to get more in touch with your companion animal, try the golden thread method.

The Golden Thread Meditation

The first step to connecting with your pet is simply to watch and observe them. What does their body language, or expression say? Try to ‘feel’ into this observation, as you would with any other loved one. Put aside the fact they are an ‘animal’ and really recognize them as they truly are – a soul in a physical body.

Animals are sentient beings with thoughts and feelings all their own. Anyone who is an attentive pet owner know from experience that animals do have distinct personalities. They are individuals and when we regard them as equal to us in this way, we honour the spirit within them.

If your pet looks at you as you are observing them, make eye contact and focus on the feelings on love you have for them. Animals are sensitive to energy, and our pets are particularly attuned to ours.

When Merlin went missing, I mentioned I used a meditation I had found called ‘The Golden Thread’ to connect with him. Since then I’ve continued to use this method to strengthen that connection, and to communicate with him. The Golden Thread is simple to do, and seems to build in effect the more you use it:

Start by visualizing a ball of golden light in your heart. This golden light is filled with the intense love you feel for your pet. Feel the warmth inside you, as you focus on the things you love most about your pet. Then visualize a similar ball of light in your pet’s heart, with a golden cord connecting these two beautifully glowing orbs of love.

Creative visualization works very well when working with animals in this way. Visualize in your mind the message you wish to transmit to your pet. Start with simple concepts at first. For example, you can visualize giving your pet affection and then send this image to them through the golden cord. Request that they come to you, but do so energetically or through your visualizations.

This does take practice at first, and consistency. Once your pet realizes you have opened a means of communication, they will take notice! That said, it should be noted that some pets, especially cats, may acknowledge your request and decline it, so try not to get discouraged by this response.

In the case of a lost pet, you can send reassuring images and feelings of love and courage through this cord. Reassure you pet you are searching for them, and that they can find their way. Encourage them to follow the golden thread back to you. Sometimes this happens directly, with them following a path to find their way home. Sometimes it happens indirectly, through other people, or circumstances. The Universe is magical like that.

The more you practice communicating with your pet on an energetic level, the more your connection with them will develop. It is incredibly rewarding to feel such kinship with your animal friends and if you are a pet owner I encourage you to give this a try.
