Wisdom From The Garden
As living beings having a human and earthly experience, we are bound by natural law. Natural law is simply the order of things and one of the primary natural laws is that things unfold over time. This law represents the seasonal dynamic of life.
Many times, people will have a desire, something that they would like to experience in relationships or within their career. I am confident that our desires are meant to be fulfilled, but it is important to understand that the fulfillment of our desires unfolds over time.
Just like a garden, it is crucial for us to recognize the process by which things come into being. I want tomatoes in my garden. So, I started some tomato plants from seed. When I planted the seeds, I trusted that they were growing. This is often the first step to manifesting. We must trust that the natural order is working in our favor.
The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it ~ Arnold H. Glasgow
Our innate desires are like the seeds of the experiences we would like to have as we move forward. The first stages of growth do not take place in experience, but rather in the soil of our minds. This is where roots get established and eventually a small seedling will pop up.
In my many years of spiritual coaching, I have noticed that this is where many people will kill their dreams. It is as if they have a desire, but they are looking for immediate results. We have a ‘fast food’ mindset when it comes to life. We want things right away. And although it may be true that we can get tomatoes from the grocer, I would not get to taste my delicious, vine-ripened Brandywine Beefsteak tomatoes, unless I put in the actual effort it takes to grow them.
It is often the seedling experience where people will ‘kill off’ most of their intrinsic desires. They don’t see growth, so they begin to dig around to prove whether the seeds are growing. At this stage, however, even in the growth of experience, the desire itself is still quite tender. Any rustling of the tiny root system will kill off the desire.
To find fulfillment we must also trust that life supports us and all of our desires. We must live life on life’s terms and respect the natural order of unfoldment. When I see that small seedling, I recognize that I am eventually going have some tomatoes. When it comes to desires the seedlings are the synchronicities that help us recognize and align with the desires we have planted within our consciousness.
