Turn My Ship Around

Click picture to get a free reading right now at PsychicAccess.comRecently a trusted friend posted on my Facebook timeline a link to the Jeremy Buck song Turn my Ship Around, from the album Vibe. I had never heard of Jeremy Buck, but I clicked it and listened. The song’s lyrics reminded me of times when I felt no one listened to my concerns, when people tried to bully me, when people tried to undermine me and were being false friends. It reminded me that through those times, I ensured I found a new direction and was determined to fulfill my goals to the best of my abilities.

The song reminds us to simply “turn our ship around” when feeling that we are heading in the wrong direction. The question however is what type of ship are you in, or steering? Perhaps a Kayak, a 12ft fishing boat with outboard motor, a 35ft cruiser or speedboat, or an oil tanker or cruise ship? What kind of ship are you commanding?

It’s like I’m lost and never found. It seems like everybody tries to break me down. I’m gonna turn my ship around ~ Jeremy Buck

If it is a kayak, then you are very dependent upon your physical strength, body and paddle resources, while if it is a small fishing boat with motor, then you have mechanical assistance and a small turn radius. However, the larger the ship, the slower it turns, and perhaps miles pass for you to do a 180 degree turn.

Regardless of the size of the ship, the key element is that if the direction you are heading in is not looking fruitful, or it is becoming stagnant or difficult to maneuver through, then make the choice to try and get through it, or change direction and turn your ship around. Find an alternative direction that nurtures your needs and emotional well-being. This matters and is applicable whether it is in reference to family, friends, partner, career or social environment.

The cruise ship turning around can be a large complex situation that takes time, perhaps even negotiation and planning, to plot the exact future course, after deciding to turn the ship around. Perhaps it is planning a career change, fulfilling a dream project, rebuilding after a loss of relationship. Sometimes one may wish to exchange the cruise ship for one of its lifeboats!

I would like to remind you that you are the Captain of your ship, you have your compass and you make the final decisions to the best of your ability, based on the weather patterns ahead and the potential destination you are on course for. Your trusted ensign by your side offers advice, support and respects your decisions, even when not agreeing with them. Perhaps this ensign is a physical person, or your ego.

Take charge. Reflect upon where you are in life and what you see as possibilities in your future in all the important aspects of your life. If things are not serving you don’t jump ship, just turn your ship around. Talk with your ego, look at your shadow self, talk to it to comfort it, not to judge it.

Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else ~ Les Brown

When my friend sent me that song on Facebook, she did not realize or understand where I was at in that moment. The Universe synchronistically had her post it. I saw it, was drawn to open the YouTube video and for several days (and subsequent weeks) it became a song I played repeatedly to remind me it’s again time to Turn My Ship Around.

I encourage you, as you think about turning your ship around,  that some aspects will be easy, others not. If your life requires upliftment, create a playlist of motivational songs (of various genres), create a library of motivational videos and affirmations, or engage in sports and such like physical motivators, to redirect your direction in life.

Connect with your internal compass knowing that it will not lead you astray or get you lost. You however may read the compass wrong, misplace it, or have other magnetic personalities influence it. Make sure any influencers of the compass actually are pulling the needle in the correct direction of positivity, joy and abundance.
