If you told me a month ago that I would have a conversation with a tree, I would most likely not have believed it. Not that I am closed off to such experiences, but rather because I have never had any kind of engagement with nature on this level.
This weekend I was hiking with some friends, and there was a moment when I was separated from them. One of my friends went ahead of me, and the other two lagged behind. We were on a train, so I was confident that we would eventually meet up. So, I appreciated this time to myself for reflection and contemplation.
I sat down and began to meditate. As I did so, I turned my attention to a very large tree that must have been there for hundreds of years. I recalled something that I had channeled in the book I was writing. I recently wrote about how everything has a spirit, including animals and plants. I had not really thought much about this in the past. Most of my spiritual insights have been associated with interactions with angels, spirit guides, and individuals who have passed on. This said, I am certainly open to interacting with the spirit’s of animals and plants.
I like trees because they seem more resigned to the way they have to live than other things do ~ Willa Cather
As I turned my attention to the tree, I asked if it had anything to share with me, and for quite some time I did not get any kind of response. However, as I focused my attention on the tree, I began to sense the spirit presence within the tree, and also the message it carried.
Channeling as a psychic in other “realms” helped out a lot in my communication with the tree, because the language of the tree was quite similar to the language of the angels and my spirit guides. Much of what was communicated was vibratory in nature, as well as some clairvoyant exchanges.
The first thing I noticed from the tree was its perception of time, which was completely different from the perception of time we have as humans. The tree’s perception of movement was also much different than my own. For example, I sensed that people walking by, even at a slow pace, was perceived by the tree as a quick flash of energy, similar to how we as humans perceive a lightning flash.
With this altered perception of time I also noticed that the tree’s consciousness about time was quite different. The tree was very grounded, which makes sense, since it’s roots must go very deep into the earth. There was a strong sense of the eternal perspective of the tree.
While experiencing all of this, I felt the reality of life as it is associated with time. There was no worry or concern about “getting things done” for the tree. There was no urgency that we as humans often associate with time, but an understanding that everything that the tree needed to accomplish would be accomplished in its lifespan.
This made me realize our own nature, and how we have as much time as we need to accomplish all that we want to accomplish. Most of the time our lack of accomplishments are not associated with inadequate ability or limited time, but rather the willingness to put effort into our desires. And for the most part, it is our fear that stops us from moving forward.

I mentioned the grounded nature of the tree, but I also got an understanding of provision from this grounded perspective. The tree communicated a deep understanding about provision that I simply did not have before this experience. Everything that the tree would need to survive for as long as it will be on this planet would be there. There was no struggle, but all movement for the tree was slow and with faith that when the roots reached down, the water would be provided.
When I arrived home that evening, I started contemplating this “tree experience”. I was in meditation when one of my guides came to me. I often channel St. Francis of Assisi, who was known as a natural mystic, or someone who would receive profound insights into spiritual and personal development through nature.
He said to me something that increased the “grounded” sensation I experienced with the tree: “There are two qualities to every spiritual journey. The first is the importance of understanding that there is enough love in your heart to change the world. The second, and just as important, is the understanding that there is enough love in the world to change your heart.”
This is a deep understanding of the provision of love that exists on this planet, and I knew that this message was associated with my “tree experience”.
Another thing I felt from the tree was that at one time in its history it was very common for people to stop long enough to commune with the tree. Due to the trees unique perspective of time, communing with the tree took some time in meditative contemplation. This meditative contemplation is missing from our fast food culture, however deep wisdom can be found in engaging with the other inhabitants of the Earth. I strongly recommend engaging with nature, and see what you learn from the process.
