Realm Of Contradiction

I was talking to a colleague recently about contradiction within readings. She mentioned that there have been some occurrences where she is getting contradictory messages for some of her clients. This happens even with the most seasoned readers, as well as on every person’s spiritual path.

We live in a realm of contradiction. It is true that there have been times when I get contradictory messages, both for myself and others. I do my best to communicate what is coming up, even in the midst of contradiction. Often times I have communicated both perspectives to my clients.

How do these contradictions emerge? Well, in terms of a reading, we are each on a unique journey through this life. Although some experiences are static within the journey, there are still other experiences that are negotiable. In this realm we have choice and choice can, at times, lead to contradiction. It is true that eventually these apparent contradictions will eventually turn into a cohesive experience, but we must recognize that contradiction can sometimes be a natural occurrence.

Some have not yet made the choice energetically to bring harmony to an experience, while others may have made the choice, but have not necessarily taken appropriate steps. Some attributes that can contribute to contradiction within experience are:

Rigid Expectations

Holding too tightly to a specific outcome. It is good to have goals and a vision for the future. However, there are times when our highest path is not in alignment with a belief about our circumstances.

For example, some hold very tightly to goals that cause them a tremendous amount of distress. They will create a narrative about life that says, “I can only be happy if things turn out this specific way.” Such narratives about life can create fear and anxiety if it appears as though circumstances are moving us in a different direction.

The reality is that things like love, joy, and peace are not circumstantial. When a future narrative creates a condition in which happiness can only be achieved in one way, happiness is then relegated to a reality that does not exist. Because the future is still unfolding.

Resistance To Forgiveness

Another main obstacle that can create several contradictions in our experience is a resistance to forgiveness. Until we are able to release the negativity of the past, we remain stuck. The evolution and changes that naturally occur with time do not stop, but when there is an unwillingness to forgive this can cause us to resist the natural changes on our path.

Relationships that have the potential to flourish can be stunted, opportunities that are unfolding could be missed, because the past is over and done with. However, without releasing the energetic experience of the past, we cannot move forward effectively into the optimal experience that is unfolding.

Forgiveness is not saying that the other person was right in their actions. We also do not forgive because it is the ‘right thing to do.’ In fact, if you hold this viewpoint, you may want to release it. We don’t forgive so that we can be ‘good little girls and boys.’ We forgive because it sets us free from the pain.

If you are holding on to any resentment and you are unsure how to forgive, say to the Universe, “I am willing to forgive.” Your willingness will eventually become the catalyst to your experience. Depending on the issue you may need to allow yourself the space and time to forgive. Remember, forgiveness itself is a process of self-love. So, love yourself through the process and be gentle and kind with yourself regardless of how long the process takes.

Contradictions can also take place organically due to the pluralistic nature of this time-space reality. Life itself can be contradictory at times, and it is important to acknowledge that we live on a planet that created both players like Hitler and Gandhi. In all contradictory experience, the goal is to find peace within the midst of the contradiction, even when the contradiction itself is out of our hands.

This leads to another point, even though some contradictions are out of our hands, that does not mean that our life purpose and highest good is out of our hands. We have the freedom to choose, even in the midst of contradiction. This means that no person, place, or thing has any power over us.

As we learn to trust that life is meant to be fulfilling, we can then trust that our inspirations and insights can always lead us to our highest good. We can witness a contradiction and then choose not to be controlled by it.

We are always given the freedom to choose. When we choose love, joy, and peace, our lives naturally reflect those characteristics, regardless of what sort of contradictions may occur. Gaining access to our peace in the midst of contradiction may take some intentional work at times, but the payoff is certainly worth the effort.
