Fall Asleep Fast…The Natural Way
Insomnia is not only widespread these days; it is a negative influence which may lead to depression and anxiety, substance abuse, decreased mental functioning, and even suicide. With less than half of adults getting their optimal levels and duration of sleep, it’s crucial that all of us look after that part of ourselves.
Relying on sleep medications can have long-term side effects, and after a while, we become dependent on them. Instead of using gimmicks or habit-forming medications to get more sleep, all you need are three natural ingredients and this simple recipe for a sleep elixir.
A natural sleep mixture is non-habit-forming, and provides benefits beyond better sleep. In fact, our sleep cycle affects almost every other part of our well-being.

Ingredients
Lavender oil is known for its sleep-inducing properties. A study done in South Korea suggests that the quality and satisfaction of sleep improved up to 60 percent with the use of lavender essential oil, and the same study reflected a decrease in depression and anxiety.
Chamomile oil is similarly known for its association with sleep. Many people drink chamomile tea before bedtime. Be sure to purchase an essential oil, and not the tea or its leaves, for this recipe.
Magnesium is a mineral element we all need. It is vital to achieve a good night’s sleep, and most of us do not get the necessary amount through diet alone. It’s also a depression-buster! For this recipe, include an oil with dissolved magnesium crystals, as the element does not come in purely liquid form.
Method
To make your sleep mixture, combine ten drops each of lavender and chamomile oil, along with four ounces of magnesium oil. These can all be found at a health store, or natural foods or herbal vendor. Use a dark-colored sprayer bottle, as this will prevent sunlight from diminishing the properties of the oils. Combine by shaking thoroughly.
You’ll want to spray some of your mixture on the soles of your feet before bedtime. Not only will it smell good, but you should fall asleep much faster than normal, and your quality of sleep will also improve.

In addition to using this natural blend of ingredients, consider clearing out negative influences. If your thoughts are racing prior to sleep, a journal, meditation, or candle ceremony can help dispel the surplus energy. If you live in an environment where ambient noise or smells provide distractions, a white noise machine or blackout curtains may help.
Some of us struggle with reliance on caffeine or other substances to fall asleep or wake up; in this case, the three-ingredient mixture may help with detoxification.
The leading cause of insomnia is stress. The best thing about this simple recipe is that all its ingredients are associated with a decrease in stress levels and proactivity against depression.
As you continue to use it, your body and mind will associate those ingredients with serenity and peace. Like ripples spreading outward in a pond, you’ll start to see the benefits of a better night’s sleep. Not bad for the cost of a few simple oils at your favorite store!
