Taking On Karmic Debt

If a person broke into my home and committed a robbery, the police would definitely be called, charges would be laid, and the ramifications of that particular act would remain in the capable hands of the legal system. Since this is a willful, intentional act, that individual deserves whatever consequences would be dished out to him.

His ongoing problem, which he may not be aware of, is that although he would be paying his penalty, perhaps with a prison sentence or something similar, he still would be accumulating also a karmic debt. This he most likely would not even consider at the time.

Karmic debts do not disappear. One must always account for them at some given time. It is a universal law that never wavers.

You would most assuredly agree with me that this kind of crime is a clear one that is easily interpreted. A person wanted what was not his. However, this did not deter him. He knowingly, on a conscience level, sought to commit an unlawful act, despite the grief and trauma it might cause his victim. His wrongdoing is plain to see and, despite restitution or an apology, profound damage was done to the owner of the property he stole.

But suppose another character committed a different kind of crime. One that was not so blatantly noticeable, however, it caused the same emotional harm to another, or possibly even worse. The person might knowingly and willingly create a scenario that leads to a series of events that becomes extremely traumatic or detrimental to another.

Still others commit all sorts of evil deeds, claiming karma doesn’t exist. They erroneously maintain that since everything is empty, committing evil isn’t wrong. Such persons fall into a hell of endless darkness with no hope of release. Those who are wise hold no such conception ~ Bohidharma

Maybe they do something that completely undermines the trust one person would have for another. This is not a situation where the police or proper authorities would be called. The victim of this malicious intent was left reeling from the impact, and only in time was she able to understand and identify the mystery of the dilemma it caused. Why would one individual intentionally harm another person? Many, many possible reasons come to mind.

When an event of this magnitude is created, the victim may in time be able to release any animosity or resentment that was stirring inside, but the long-term damage to the offender will be a lot more serious! Universal power seeks karmic atonement by stabilizing the energy that was thrown off balance. So, unless the person in question understands and acknowledges, and fully accepts her role in this karmic debt accumulation, she will certainly have to pay for her emotional crime, until the power base is fully restored to harmony and balance.

I find it so unbelievably interesting that so few people these days truly understand or accept the existence of karmic debt. It is after all a firm and resolute universal law that we often witness in action in world events. When harm is intentionally done, a repair must take place… and it will. It is as simple as that.

It behooves us to remember that when we willfully commit acts of dishonesty or cruelty upon another, sometime in this life, or the next, we will have to atone for it. There is no escaping bad karma. The simple solution is to never knowingly take on any karmic debt. We can then be reassured we will have created peace and harmony, not only for others, but also for ourselves.
