Traits Of Your Capricorn Child

A child born between December 22nd and January 19th is born under the sign of Capricorn. It is helpful to know your child’s strengths and weaknesses to help guide them through life.

Capricorn is an Earth sign represented in the form of a sea goat – a mythical creature that is half goat, half fish. Capricorn is grounded, hard-working, opinionated, practical, good with money and ambitious.

They can be very romantic. They aren’t typically the emotionally or physically demonstrative kind, but they will surprise you with a sweet card or flowers. It helps to reward them when they show their vulnerability.

Capricorns are shy and don’t like big crowds. They are more one-on-one people, not party people. Big crowds can overwhelm them and they tend to be very quiet around people they don’t know. It takes time for them to warm up to people and let someone in. It also takes time for them to totally trust someone. As a child, they may need some time before letting a person get close to them. Allow them to trust their own instincts about who to let into their circle.

Capricorns are very good with money and practical matters! They tend to lean toward being frugal, financially conservative side. They will do well with investments and saving money. They may find that people close to them view them as stingy. They tend to become excellent business owners. They also tend to be very good at math and numbers. It would be good to teach your child that money gives security and that it is important, but it is not the most important thing in life.

Capricorns are stubborn. They use the word ‘no’ a lot once they learn it. They are determined to get their way.  They are convinced others are wrong and they are right. They are more likely to just stop communicating during a disagreement than to debate someone. Encourage them to communicate in a kind way even when they are angry.

They tend to be perfectionists and are very ambitious and goal-oriented. They can be very hard on themselves and can have a harsh inner dialogue. They tend to be Type A personalities. Teach your Capricorn child to focus on their strengths and gifts and to live in the moment.

Capricorns can be very competitive with siblings and friends, and later in life with romantic partners. It helps to emphasize partnership and working together instead of winning with your Capricorn child.

They can be great leaders as long as they curtail their aggression and don’t become bossy. Be an example on how to be diplomatic.

They have incredible discipline and willpower and can accomplish almost anything they put their mind to. Keep reminding them of this when they become too hard on themselves.

Capricorn children probably have few friends, but they are very close to and loyal to their friends. They often have the same friends they had as children through their lifetime. Encourage them to expand their circle of friends.
