Is Your Partner Your Soulmate?

Many of my clients want to know if a person they are interested in, or currently in a relationship with, is their soulmate. While on the surface this seems to be a simple, straightforward question, I find the typical answer more complex and nuanced in such readings.

Many people believe they have a soulmate who they are meant to be with – that one, true, perfect love that will last a lifetime. However, in readings I am finding instead that this notion is not exactly spiritually viable in many cases.

Spirit says more and more souls have incarnated at this time in human history to live multiple lifetimes within one physical lifespan. It’s an ingenious way of fast-tracking one’s soul growth and spiritual evolution, but it can also cause confusion when it comes to living in 3D-reality.

How do you know if you’re one of these souls? A good starting point is to take a retrospective look back on your life. Have you had experiences in this current life that seem like it occurred ‘a lifetime’ ago? When you recall significant events or times in your past, does it feel like memories from an entirely different life, or even a past life? Well, this is probably because energetically speaking it literally was ‘another life’.

So, what does this mean for our romantic lives? Because we have come here for a crash course in soul expansion and spiritual growth, we have lined up several soul agreements with other incarnated souls before we were born. The purpose of these soul contracts is to experience many different life lessons and growth opportunities, and all the souls you have established these strategic alliances with are therefore all your ‘soulmates.’

And this is where the confusion begins.

Consider it a ‘revival your greatest hits.’ All the souls that you had amazing connections and relationships with over the many lifetimes you have lived before, are coming back into your life this time around. Some will only drop by for a quick ‘reappraisal,’ before you move on with your accelerated growth path, while others may stay for a medium-term ‘reckoning,’ or even a longer-term final ‘integration.’

As a fast-tracked soul you chose to carry a strong memory of your true soul identity and your path in this lifetime, which manifests as a powerful sense of self, strong intuition, and the ability to recognize the soul identities of those people you have ‘contractual obligations’ with. So, when you meet one of these ‘soulmates,’ you will often instantly recognize them, and you may sense an intense connection, or have a profound emotional response to them. They are significant markers for you in this lifetime.

However, you will find in many cases these relationships are not meant for longevity. This is perfectly okay. It doesn’t mean you’ve done something wrong or that the relationship never was meant to be. It just means you have fulfilled another soul agreements and completed another growth assignment. Now it’s time to move on to the next lesson.

If you struggle to move on, ask yourself what they came to teach you this time around. Is it to open yourself more deeply to love? Is it to trust your intuition more? Is it to learn about your value, and worth, or how to set healthy boundaries? Is it to find healing and become more empowered? Is it to motivate you to fulfill your purpose?

A soulmate is an ongoing connection with another individual that the soul picks up again in various times and places over lifetimes. There are many ways for us to learn and grow in these relationships. Understanding the purpose of a failing or a terminated relationship helps us to find the necessary closure, learn the lesson, and move forward.

So, if you are feeling frustrated that your ‘soulmate’ relationship isn’t going the way you expected it to, I recommend starting with one of the aforementioned self-reflective questions. Adopting this new perspective regarding soulmates, will initiate a marked shift in the dynamics of your current relationship. It will help you both to get to the true love you desire and deserve much sooner, and with less struggle.

Remember however that at any point, should you feel the need to slow down, you may ask your Guides, Angels, Spirit, God, Source, the Universe to update your soul contracts and redefine them to include a lasting, healthy, committed soulmate relationship in this lifetime. Make it a daily prayer request or meditation focus, and you may just be surprised at how quickly the spin cycle of short-lived soulmate connections can shift for ‘the one’ to come into your life.
