Trusting Your Higher Self Can Save A Life

While my son was visiting me a few months ago, the unimaginable happened. Returning home, after I went out for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, I found my son sitting on my living room couch looking very strange.

I called out to him, but he didn’t respond. I went up to him and immediately saw that his face was turning blue. His mouth was open, but I could not hear him breathing!

Instinctively, I pushed him down and applied pressure to his chest. All I got was a gurgling sound coming up from his throat. At the same time, I now had 911 on the phone and I was hysterically shouting about what was happening. The operator gave me instructions to continue helping him. I am a small woman, and my son is a burly man, and yet I seemed to have superhuman power and was able to do whatever she said.

In a matter of minutes, a squad of emergency medical technicians (EMTs) arrived. Right away he was placed on a heart monitor, and they set up a defibrillator. We almost lost him. The EMTs then gave him a medication to bring him back. It took two doses to work. Then he started to come around and he did not know where he was.

The EMT told him, “I hope you realize that your mom saved your life!” My son was confused and all he could manage was, “My mom?” I don’t think he even understood that he had a mom at this point. Then they put him on a stretcher, gave him oxygen and took him to the hospital. He spent two weeks there. I went to see him every day.

For months before all of this happened, I began having dreams of loved ones who had passed to the Other Side. I sensed that they were somehow furnishing me with important information regarding my son. I felt much love and concern from them for his health and safety. They were somehow teaching me something or guiding me in some way, but I could not recall any of it by the time I woke up from these dreams. I was not sure what to make of it all.

Our inner guidance comes to us through our feelings and body wisdom first — not through intellectual understanding. Today, I fully understand. Listening to spirit and following the inner guidance of our higher self can sometimes be a matter of life and death. On the day of the incident, I did listen to my intuition and I came home fast. I had a gut feeling that I needed to get home as soon as possible, and once I got there, I instinctively knew what to do to start helping him. It was as if I had done it many times before, or as if someone else was guiding me every step of the way.

This past year has been rough for most people in the world. I have been through some particularly difficult times in my life before, but nothing has really affected me like the events of this past year. And I have learned that sometimes we will be in for extremely challenging life experiences, but also many miracles and divine blessings.

We live from lifetime to lifetime, having many incarnations, always in the process of learning, and purifying our spirit energy, which is who we really are. We do this because we are in the process of elevating, in other words becoming closer to God. Our spirit is actually an expression of God. The higher self is who we really are. But it doesn’t matter how spiritually aware or gifted we are. Although we are spirit, we are encased in human form and subject to very vulnerable human emotions.

Ultimately, we must learn to trust ourselves. When we do this intimately and intelligently, the world opens full of meaning before us. We find that we ourselves are the doorway to a fathomless understanding of the source of life itself. We need only to learn to walk through it ~ James Thornton

The higher self is always with us and in communication with us. The more we develop spiritually, the more we become aware of our higher selves communicating. Daily spiritual practice, such as meditation, is the best way of opening up this special line of communication.We are on this planet with various missions to accomplish. karmic contracts to be completed, and karmic debts to repay. This is all for the sake of our own spiritual development.

Our spirit is always busy evolving.We are constantly in the process of shaking off the darkness and impurities that have attached to us while living human lives. In human form we are subject to making mistakes, and we learn by making these mistakes.

The experience that I’ve been through with my son recently reminded me of all these spiritual truths, why it is necessary or us to face challenges and overcome adversity. It also renewed my awareness of the many miracles and blessings that surround us every day, and the fact that we are never alone. Our loved ones in spirit are always looking out for us. We are surrounded by angels and protected by divine guidance. We are embraced by God’s wisdom and eternal unconditional love. Never fear. Just pay attention to the signs and messages. And trust your gut, because it is your higher self keeping you safe and on track.
