The Empowering Symbolism Of The World Card
The World card in the Tarot remains one of my firm favorites. I am all for personal and spiritual growth, the completion of cycles, and new beginnings. The World represents exactly that: the ending of a cycle and pause in life, before the next major cycle begins with the fool.
The journey from the new beginnings of The Fool to the fulfilling endings of The World is a constant evolutionary process in our everyday lives that is represented by the sequence of the 22 Major Arcana cards of the Tarot. The World is the 22nd trump and therefore final card of the Major Arcana.
I have reflected on the imagery of the Rider-Waite version of this Tarot card in great detail. Rider-Waite is probably the most popular and universally recognized Tarot deck. The illustrations by Pamela Colman Smith at first glance appear simple, but the details and backgrounds feature abundant mystical symbolism.
The World pictures an empowered figure within a wreath – traditionally a symbol of victory, success, achievement, and eternal life. The figure holds a wand in each hand, which is reminiscent of the Magician card and the Two of Wands. However, while The Magician holds only one wand, the two wands in the The World card represents fulfillment, wholeness, balance and coming full circle.
The card is framed by four animals on the diagonal. The depiction of these four creatures parallels the four animal symbols used in Christian art to represent the four Evangelists, namely Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The four animals also represent the zodiac signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, the four fixed signs in Western Astrology, which in turn represent the classical four elements of Earth, Fire, Water and Air.

The week starts with a Pisces New Moon and Venus moving into Aries today.
New Moons herald a time of new beginnings, and in Pisces the focus ison spiritual advancement, and expanded views of the physical world and metaphysical realms as they relate to each other.
Venus loves to show off in Aries, so get ready to express yourself! And be prepared for others to act with more drama and flair than usual.
Tomorrow afternoon’s Pisces Moon conjunction with Neptune in Pisces can cause us to be nervous and hypersensitive. Some grounding and centering energy work is advised. On the upside the dreamy, poetic energies of this aspect is also ideal for journaling and artistic self-expression, so if you have been lacking inspiration lately this mid-day transit may be just the muse you have been waiting for.
Wednesday the Moon dashes into Aries, which will get us up and running! Creative ideas abound under this Moon, as well as accelerated energy to help us move through the mid-week with determination and ambition.
Friday and Saturday are all about the material world as the Moon cruises through Taurus. Making a real dent in home projects or implementing new self-care practices will be a theme for many of us.
Reserve Sunday for social media activities, as the Gemini Moon inspires more time online. Updating your news feed, doing zoom calls, and good old-fashioned in-person gabfests are likely to be on the agenda.

This week’s cosmic energy is all about the mind, including new ideas and alternative ways of looking at things, that will lead us to bigger and better things. We won’t need to re-invent the wheel, but we should consider new uses for old objects, reorganizing our stale schedules and goals, and implement better energy flow in our home with a mini-remodel or feng shui project.
This morning’s Leo Moon opposite Saturn in Aquarius could cause no end of trouble at home, so keep a low profile and stay calm. This opposition is notorious for inspiring arguments and drama, especially regarding the children and household finances.
The Moon travels through Virgo later today until Wednesday, expanding our mental capacity and boosting our organizational skills. We will need to take care not to be too idealistic or overly critical. Expressing our opinions calmly, while remaining open to the ideas of others, will pay off handsomely!
Thursday and Friday are all about balance and equilibrium under the Libra Moon. The keyword here is vision. A great idea may land in your lap, but think it through for a few days before you jump to implement it.
The only significant planetary shift this week is Mercury’s electric transit into Aquarius on Saturday. Combined with this weekend’s Scorpio Moon and the Sun currently in Aquarius, it will inspire new insights, intuitions, and impossible dreams that are sure to catch our fancy. However, be prepared for possible delays in communication and travel Saturday afternoon due to the Scorpio Moon square with Mercury in Aquarius. Be especially careful not to get lost if travelling, and make sure you send that email or text to correct person!

The Gemini Moon will have us very focused on social and intellectual pursuits today and tomorrow, as we search for creative ways to change up our routines and think outside of the box. Gemini lunar energy boosts our curiosity, innovative thinking and the desire for novelty. It is a great time or learning new things, networking, creative ideas and charismatic communication.
Keep your feelings in check around midday today, as the Gemini Moon square Venus in Pisces may pave the way for irritability, emotional outbursts, and arguments. It will especially be the worst possible time to get into a quarrel with your mother-in-law!
This afternoon’s Gemini Moon sextile with Jupiter in Aries will be an ideal time for business opportunities and making money, so make that call or send that marketing email!
If there’s anything you need to get done this week at work or in your business, do it before Wednesday, as things will then slow down significantly for the rest of the work week due to the Moon’s ethereal transit through Cancer. After all the cosmic upheaval of last week’s planetary shifts, you may be pleased to know that this week starts out on a much calmer note under a Waxing Crescent Pisces Moon.
A waxing crescent moon phase is a hopeful and positive time to recover, restore and rebuild, and in Pisces this becomes an especially healing energy to release what does not serve us. Fully embrace this harmonious, restorative, liberating vibration today and tomorrow, because on Wednesday the fiery Aries Moon will spur us back into action.
The Aries Moon will offer a great time for the rest of the work week until Friday for brainstorming, making big plans, putting new ideas into action, and energetic negotiation. The Aries Moon conjunction with Jupiter in Aries on Wednesday bodes especially well for potential financial gains, ambitious action, and enhanced social influence. Wednesday morning will therefore be the best time this week for promoting your services, selling your products, and striking those deals!
Venus will be moving into Pisces on Thursday, turning our focus to magic, fantasy, and all things metaphysical. Our intuitions will be on higher alert, and following those random hunches could pay off handsomely over the next four weeks!

This week there is a cosmic ‘musical chairs’ occuring with various planets shifting as the heavens align for the beginning of the Chinese New Year this weekend.
Today, the Scorpio Moon will carry an intense vibration, enabling us to get a lot of things taken care of that have been on the back burner since last year.
A lighter energy prevails tomorrow and Wednesday, as the Moon dances through Sagittarius, but we’ll have to watch out for overly sensitive people and potential emotional outbursts. This may partly be due also to Mercury turning direct in Capricorn on Wednesday. This return can cause miscommunication and technical glitches that are sure to try some folks’ last nerve!
The Sun will move into Aquarius on Friday and meet up with Pluto, giving us a sense of destiny and karma to guide our way forward.
On Saturday the Aquarius New Moon will announce the dawn of the Chinese New Year. To add to the drama, Uranus will also turn direct this weekend, after four months of backward motion. This aspect will cement the fact that new beginnings are upon us! With the rare trio of the Sun moving into Aquarius, as well as the New Moon in Aquarius, and Aquarius as the ruling planet of Uranus going direct (as well as Mercury), plus the Chinese New Year all happening within a matter of days, the writing is certainly on the wall: major change for the better is on the horizon.
