The Empowering Symbolism Of The World Card
The World card in the Tarot remains one of my firm favorites. I am all for personal and spiritual growth, the completion of cycles, and new beginnings. The World represents exactly that: the ending of a cycle and pause in life, before the next major cycle begins with the fool.
The journey from the new beginnings of The Fool to the fulfilling endings of The World is a constant evolutionary process in our everyday lives that is represented by the sequence of the 22 Major Arcana cards of the Tarot. The World is the 22nd trump and therefore final card of the Major Arcana.
I have reflected on the imagery of the Rider-Waite version of this Tarot card in great detail. Rider-Waite is probably the most popular and universally recognized Tarot deck. The illustrations by Pamela Colman Smith at first glance appear simple, but the details and backgrounds feature abundant mystical symbolism.
The World pictures an empowered figure within a wreath – traditionally a symbol of victory, success, achievement, and eternal life. The figure holds a wand in each hand, which is reminiscent of the Magician card and the Two of Wands. However, while The Magician holds only one wand, the two wands in the The World card represents fulfillment, wholeness, balance and coming full circle.
The card is framed by four animals on the diagonal. The depiction of these four creatures parallels the four animal symbols used in Christian art to represent the four Evangelists, namely Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. The four animals also represent the zodiac signs of Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius, the four fixed signs in Western Astrology, which in turn represent the classical four elements of Earth, Fire, Water and Air.

New doors may open for us today, as the Leo Moon empowers us to reach for the stars and confidently pursue our dreams. Leo is the sign of self-expression, creative expression, and extrovert confidence, so make the most of this energy if it is your first day back at the office after the holidays.
Watch your temper this evening when the Leo Moon is opposite Saturn in Aquarius, as this transit can cause tension and conflict at home. Especially avoid getting into any argument over the household finances or your kids. Also do not ask parents or older family members for any advice under this opposition, as they might only help you out of the frying pan into the fire.
The best thing to do this evening amidst this moody, volatile energy is to get some light exercise, eat a healthy meal and go to bed early for a good night’s sleep. Your mental state will be much improved in the morning.
Tomorrow the Moon moves into Virgo for three days, bringing forward our detailed, organized side and getting work done will be our focus. However, guard against being too analytical, stubborn, or critical of yourself and others, as these Virgo influences left unchecked can sabotage even our best efforts.
Mars will turn direct on Thursday after a two-month retrograde cycle, and officially boost our new year goals with action, action, and more action. Get ready to rock and roll!
Friday and Saturday’s Libra Moon will be a call for balance, as we clear out the remnants of last year and step into the new one. If you haven’t hung your 2023 calendars, dusted off your day planner, or set up your virtual scheduling app, now is the time to do it.
Sunday’s Scorpio Moon will cast a spiritual vibe all around us, compelling us to stop, pause, and look internally for the balance and intuitive direction we need to move forward.

As a professional astrologer, I’m often asked by clients if their zodiac sign is compatible with someone they are interested in, or currently dating. For this purpose, I have developed over the years through study and experience some simple, yet essential guidelines for astrological romance.

Never Date A Neighbor
Rarely are we compatible with the sun signs preceding or following our own sign in the zodiac, even though they flow into one another. Exceptions to this guideline are the Fire and Earth signs: Aries with Taurus, Leo with Virgo, and Sagittarius with Capricorn, but only if the fire sign partner has distinct personality traits of the divine feminine and the earth sign partner tends more towards the divine masculine.
Opposites Rarely Attract
Traditional astrology books on compatibility suggest seeking out the sun sign opposite to your own sign, but in my experience these differences can often be dealbreakers in this day and age. While we want variety and choice in a relationship, I find most people are rarely truly attracted to the signs opposite theirs.

Brace yourself. This week is so packed with astrological shifts that we’ll have to pay close attention to the daily changes it will bring.
The Sun moves into Virgo today, setting us up for a month of inspired thoughts and the desire to create more order and organization in our lives. However, keep your emotions in check as the Cancer Moon
Moon square Jupiter in Aries may inspire risky behavor and bad investments.
We’ll have a quick breather tomorrow, as the Moon moves through Cancer, but on Wednesday, Uranus will turn retrograde and have us questioning everything and everyone. Sudden changes and reversals are a hallmark of this aspect, so be prepared to change direction at a moment’s notice.
On Thursday, Mercury will move into Libra and thankfully restore some balance to our thinking. What we thought was a great idea on Wednesday may prove otherwise on Thursday. So, the trick is to not take action on things too quickly, but to let the dust settle before you proceed. Thursday evening’s Leo Moon conjunction with Venus in Leo will be a lovely opportunity to spend some quality time with your mom or the motherly figure in your life. It will also be the ideal evening for a ladies night or hanging out with girlfriends.
Take advantage of Friday’s Leo Moon to stop and attend to personal needs, making sure you aren’t letting anything fall through the cracks, as you continue through the maze of this weeks’ astrological influences.

We’ll experience a fairly balanced time energetically as the Sun spends its last week of this year in Leo, with only one significant astrological shift created by Mars when it moves into Gemini on Saturday.
Our creative sides flourish under the Aries Moon today and tomorrow, as it awakens our spirits to the possibilities. Even something as simple as taking a different route home can uplift our perceptions and bring greater awareness, so practice making small changes that will soon result in some big ones!
The Aries Moon conjunction with Jupiter in Aries creates ideal Monday morning vibes for financial gains, acquisition of wealth, ambition, and increased social influence. Get your most important business calls done early this morning to make the most of this prosperous energy.

Getting the week started may prove challenging this morning with a Sagittarius Moon square Neptune in Pisces, as well as a Venus in Cancer opposition with Pluto in Capricorn. Make every effort to guard against laziness, self-indulgent behavior and a passive attitude, as it may set things back for the rest of the week. It will however be all work and little play by this afternoon, as the Moon shifting in Capricorn will insist we now get down to business and make things happen!
The Capricorn Moon will keep us under pressure to perform until Thursday, when the Aquarius Full Moon insists on a sudden shift in direction amplified by Venus moving into fiery Leo. This combination will bring out our fiery and dramatic personality traits, tempting us to put work on the back burner and let our passions and imagination carry us into another dimension. Venus in Leo also lures us into seeking beauty and pleasure. Be careful not to over-indulge and remember that less is more.
The trend continues Friday afternoon with the Moon moving into Pisces causing us to be dreamy and somewhat self-absorbed. Friday evening’s Pisces Moon sextile with Uranus in Taurus is however a social highlight for the week, as it will be a great time to go out with friends and have some fun! Alternatively, it will also be the perfect evening for a romantic date night of ‘Netflix and chill’ with that special someone.
The remainder of the weekend will continue to unfold under a karmic Pisces Moon, calling us back to ourselves to spend a few days soul-searching and connecting with our higher source. It’s one thing to come up with a great plan, and yet another to empower it by joining hands with spirit to manifest our dreams, so let’s make it a point to engage Spirit in our plans for the future, to assure they come to pass in the greatest manner possible.
