Contact After Death – How Long Does It Take?
I have been asked how long it takes a soul, recently crossed over, to come back and connect with a loved one. This is particularly a concern for those souls who depart in a violent manner or through illness, and often at a young age.
I’ve learned through experience that the actual time in our Earth time can be different from soul to soul. It tends to depend on the belief system of the person prior to them returning to spirit, because if they didn’t believe there would be a time of ‘orientation’ to their new surrounds.
Sometimes people will come to me for a mediumship reading hoping to connect with a loved one who recently passed away, and they would be disappointed when they don’t get any messages from the individual they had hoped to connect with. The Blind Lady Who Looked At Pictures
An old friend of mine, who I have not heard from in a long time, called me recently and left a message on my voice mail to call him back. When I checked my messages I was surprised to hear from him after so many years.
I asked him how he got my number, since I have not talked to him for so long. Apparently he ran into my brother John at the gas station and asked him for my number. We made some small talk at first, and then told me he had some sad news – Sharon had passed away.
Sharon is my cousin and I was very shocked to hear this! But he quickly realized his mistake and pointed out that it was in fact not my cousin; he was referring to Sharon “the blind lady with the pictures”. Oh man, I have not seen her since my childhood, I exclaimed. Continue reading
Magical Thinking
Magical thinking is a common trait found among all children all over the world, between the ages of approximately two until seven years of age. This time frame is also known as the ‘pre-operational stage’ of child development and it is the period in our early life when we increasingly explore our environment, and gradually learn to distinguish between ‘fantasy’ and ‘reality’.
Children at this age initially have all kinds of imaginative ideas and magical interpretations of the world, in order to make sense of their external and internal reality. At this age we still believe that we can grow wings and learn to fly; or that animals can talk and sing; or that our shadow is a magical person following us around; or that the Sun goes to sleep in the ocean; that there is a man living in the Moon; or that the wind, the clouds and the trees notice us and obey our instructions. Psychic DNA: Nature or Nurture?
It is my belief that psychic ability is an innate talent or gift aimed at a specific Life Calling, while intuition is a highly personal aspect of our inner spiritual guidance system. We all possess our own, natural intuition, whether we are conscious or unconscious of it – but not everyone is psychic.
Natural intuition is highly personal and mostly about taking care of our own personal needs. Psychic ability on the other hand shifts extra sensory perception from the personal sphere into the realm of the impersonal. Intuition is our direct inner guidance from our Divine Self towards achieving our unique Soul Purpose and Life Calling. Psychic ability on the other hand dwells in the realm of the selfless, prophetic and archetypal. Psychics, mediums and healers are channels, messengers, conduits or surrogates, which means that they do not only receive personal inner guidance from their own Divine Self, but they also have the capacity to receive and translate guidance on behalf of their fellow man. These perceptions or messages may come from the other person’s Higher Self, or courtesy of non-physical entities, or from the Divine Source, God, or Collective Unconscious. The Mysterious Music Box
Every year when autumn rolls around I go through my house and get rid of the clutter. I have a huge bag labeled “Second Hand Shop” and if the stuff has outworn its usefulness, in that bag it goes. So, recently, I once more set out to drop off these no longer wanted things at the shop it was intended for.
Whenever I go into antique shops or second hand shops, I immediately switch off. I have to, otherwise it would be like going into a funeral home and absorbing everyone’s sadness and grief, then taking it home with me. Before I learned how to “turn it off” I would get so tired and completely drained, I would be in bed recharging my batteries for days. Continue reading
The Psychic Sense Of Smell
Did you know that someone who passed on can communicate with us using our sense of smell. I have heard of people smelling cigars and flowers, or even peppermint sticks.
I experienced this phenomenon myself on the Bicentennial weekend of July 4th, 1976. My grandfather who passed years before always smoked those little cigars that had a sweet smell, and when he came over and spend the weekend he would smoke them. And the same with my father; he was also a cigar smoker. I can remember that smell like it was yesterday, but oddly the smell would not have the same flavor as my grandfather’s cigar smoke. We always knew when my dad had lit a cigar, because it would give off that one specific smell. Continue reading
The Mystery Of Mom’s Silverware Part II
At the time I was writing the first story about my mom’s silverware, I was trying to figure out what became of it. It cannot simply have disappeared? So, this time I did some research to see if other people also found that heirlooms would go missing that was handed down to them. And after talking to several people I came to the conclusion that for many of them items were also misplaced, or they had forgotten where the item used to be. Now, in my case we are talking about cheap silverware, not an expensive ring or ornament.
Where I live we have lots of farmland, but we also have many counties around us that offer festivals and fairs. Living out in the country it not as boring as one might think. There is one event my wife and I go to every year that has great food and many interesting vendors to browse, where you don’t mind spending money. As we were walking around, I noticed they had opened up an additional street, because the fair was bigger than previous years. Continue reading
