A Story Of Healing

Her answer to me was, “You don’t have to do a thing, they will come to you.” She was really right about this! Healing is a part of my life purpose and the right people seem to find me at the right time.

One of my most memorable healing experiences involved a young girl who only 8 or 9 years old at the time. I was living in a pretty large apartment building at the time, in a not-too-nice part of the city. We lived on the same floor.

Ventilation was not so great in this complex and only a few people had air conditioning, so everyone would leave their doors open in the summer, for a draft of fresh air to come into the stuffy apartments.

Many of the children would play with each other in the hallways. It was always noisy, but in a way it was better than having them play out on the streets without adult supervision. When they did go outside, a mom was always with them, to bring them over to the park that was a few blocks away. Then there are some good parents and some not so good parents, as usually the case is.

Checking In With Yourself

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comIn today’s hustle-and-bustle, busy world there is sometimes the need to slow down and take break. Take a moment to say hello to yourself. Do a check in. Catch up with you. As a wise man once told me, “You must start by starting!” Quite so, because it makes things much more confusing if we think about it too much.

The best time to begin your day is the previous night, when you go to bed. What’s your current practice before going to sleep? Have you gotten your clothes ready for the next day? That is a handy practice that many people do. Have you gotten your soul ready as well? That is truly where to begin.

Saying hello to your soul is a powerful healing tool. Doing it consistently, just like having coffee or tea in the morning, brings you closer to yourself and takes you to a higher perspective. By you treating yourself kindly, it spreads outward. As you heal yourself, so shall you heal others.

When True Beauty Shines Through

In his words, “I want people to remember me the way I used to look, instead of how I look now.” I couldn’t help but lower my head in that moment. I adore this man in every way. His looks mean nothing to me, for I have seen his heart. To me he is extremely handsome. I wish he felt the same way about himself.

I have thought the same about myself, many times over the years, but not so much anymore. I take pride in my appearance, but I have also come to understand that my looks are not the ‘sum of my parts.’

We live in a very superficial world, where we are made to believe by almost every media and marketing message out there, that as long as you are beautiful or handsome, the world is your oyster. There also doesn’t seem to be any getting away from it. I recall in my own youth flipping through magazines to look at the ‘beautiful people,’ and thinking to myself, their lives must be perfect. Of course, today I know that nothing could be further from the truth.

Sacred Space

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comHave you noticed that a certain physical space can influence how we feel? How can a room affect us in this way? Well it’s all about energy. When you walk into a room and people have had a fight there, or received some awful news that may have caused great sadness, we tend to pick up on the energy. We often sense it, without really knowing why we are suddenly feeling angry, sad, or drained.

One of the scripts that I use with hypnotherapy clients is to visualize your own sacred space and then picture yourself inside that space. Just thinking about such a space, where you feel safe, happy and calm, can help to relieve anxious feelings for most people.

There are also just some spaces that seem to promote a sense of belonging and trust that everything is okay. For some people their sacred space may be a certain place in their home, while for others it is simply outside in nature. It doesn’t really matter where your sacred space is, as long as you feel good inside it.

A New Year, A New Branch

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comNew Year’s day is probably the closest we have to a global holiday. Think of all the people all over the world, in the span of 24 hours, were focusing on some of the same intentions just a few days ago. That’s powerful energy.

On my social media I shared these words, “Hello World! May our wishes be trued and cause no harm.” Adding the “cause no harm,” is a habit from my days practicing Wicca in the mid-nineties. My introduction to Wicca came from a crone from Salem, who interviewed me for my first job as a professional psychic. Her wisdom, and the beauty and wisdom from Wicca, continues to enrich my intention. Remembering to add “cause no harm,” fortifies my belief that I can, indeed, have something that doesn’t take away anything from someone or something else that causes them harm.

Wait. How can I write on paper, while not taking the life of the tree from which it came? I don’t know. After learning that grass was alive, my mother had to drag me across the lawn every day, because that meant I wouldn’t have to walk on it. I still wince when walking on grass, especially when I think about it being alive. Now that I think about it, this happens more often than I realized before!

Be Gentle With Yourself This January

As the new year rolls in, many people are focused on their ‘New Year’s resolutions’ and on how they want to change their lives for the better in the coming year. As we all know, in a few weeks time most of these resolutions will be forgotten, and all that will remain is subtle feeling of disappointment.

Add to this our reflections on the past year, our hopes and expectations for the coming year, and a lingering malaise from the energetic overload of the previous month of holidays… and all of this can add up to a sense of heaviness about our life.

While recognizing that there is room for improvement, and taking action where we can make those improvements, is always a good thing, it’s important to also remember to do this with love and compassion for ourselves. Change can be challenging, even when we are at our best!

So, with all this in mind, how can we move into this new year with both self-love and self-awareness?

A Few Minutes Of Daily Self-Care

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comI often tell my students to take some ‘me time’ each day, even if it’s only five minutes for self-care. And I have heard 101 excuses as to why someone cannot do this, ranging from parenting responsibilities and career, to house cleaning and maintenance. These excuses typically start with the words, “I have to…”

At one workshop, I had several people offer their excuses for not having even  a few minutes for themselves on a daily basis.  Then I narrowed it down to a simple question. When you have to go to the washroom, do you hold it in all day long, and all night, because you ‘have to’ do something else?  After the laughter stopped, because I did do an exaggerated imitation of someone ‘holding it’ by rolling on the floor in agony!

And then I asked the next question. By holding it all day and night, and writhing in pain and agony, what did I accomplish?  How much time did I waste focusing on this issue of ‘I have to go,’ but ‘I don’t have time.’

This is the simplest way to explain time management versus wasted energy and time. I take a bath or shower each day, as do most people. I am usually at least a few minutes under the water in some way. Water is my peacemaker and my calming force. It energizes me and charges me for the day.
