My sister Laura and I, both professional psychic mediums, worked for the same psychic service for many years. My mother could never tell our voices apart on the phone, so it was unlikely clients would be able to either.

One day, I finished my reading with a specific lady, who then also rung my sister for a reading and then accused her of posing as two people! She said: “I’ve just talked to you!” After some discussion the lady finally decided to report Laura to customer services – for pretending to also be me!

We eventually resolved the situation by ringing the lady on different occasions, using a code name to identify ourselves with. It was a good laugh for everyone concerned and thankfully the readings were very similar. Read the rest of this entry »

From a young age my Uncle Henry, who was very sensitive to spirit, told me if I ever saw or heard a ghost, to use the worst language I could think of and tell it to leave!

He said this was what the best way to deal with it, because a good spirit doesn’t come to frighten and alarm us. A good spirit should fill us with warmth and love, and therefore I should react accordingly.

I live in a village steeped in history and a lady recently asked me if I could sense all the evil that took place here in the olden days. I honestly feel that, because I pray several times a day to spirit for guidance and strength, I am so well protected against residual energies that I don’t pay much attention to the past. My father Jack was a very keen auto mechanic and his overalls always ponged of engine oil. As you may know, spirit loved ones sometimes will send a scent or smell of some sort for us to identify them with. The ability to smell the presence of spirit this is known as clairolfaction, or clairalience. People often smell perfume, flowers or cigar smoke. Whenever my father is around me I always smell engine oil.

Being the owner of a fairly antiquated ‘mediumobile’ – a Ford Escort – I used to think I am going to break down, every time I smelt the engine oil. It took me ages to realize that this is in fact my Dad’s ‘calling card’. The old ‘mediumobile’ is sadly no longer with us, but the other night, while washing up the tea things, the engine oil smell was back! I felt relieved and happy, and a great sense of peace prevailed. If I had been born a few hundred years ago, I would probably have been one of the so-called ‘witches’ who were tortured in the dungeons under the church, here in my home town of Pittenweem.

I’ve read all about the Pittenweem witches and the terrible, inhumane crimes committed against them, as well as all the smuggling that went on in the secret caves that travel underground for miles.

Knowing what I know, I can’t help but feel respect for those poor witches who were actually psychics and mediums, but were feared by most. To this day there is persecution and I am aware of the way people look me up and down, wondering if I am for real, or a charlatan of some sort.

Am I someone who dabbles in the occult? A witch? Definitely, but I am a white witch who loves anything to do with the Wicca religion and with nature. I’m not sure about casting spells, but I know miracles do happen and dreams do come true. Read the rest of this entry »

It is helpful for a psychic reader to receive constructive feedback, both good and bad, because it shows us where we can improve. But this holds true only if the feedback is honest and well-deserved.

Clients who have not been told what they wanted to hear sometimes leave an unfair, negative review after a psychic reading. The cruelest aspect is that there is usually no way of defending yourself.

Psychics sometimes become the target of heartbroken, frustrated souls. Out of all the negative feedback I have received over the past ten years, I can honestly say that every negative comment has come from a person who I have advised to move on with their life. My heart constantly goes out to all the young mothers with children going about their daily business, be it going to school shopping, or whatever. I don’t have a daughter, but I put myself in those women’s shoes.

I also think of the likelihood of divorce. These days it is so common to end up a one parent family, and I worry about the struggle of so many women to survive the challenges that lie ahead, having to face it all by themselves.

Of course, I also consider the many men who must fulfill the role of single parent. Goodness knows how people manage to raise children on their own, while working a full-time job to put bread on the table. If you are a single parent you may wonder why you have to go through the challenges and obstacles that inevitably lie ahead. From personal experience I know that it’s a learning curve, and a natural progression into mature adulthood and old age. There are many lessons to be learned, whether you have children or not. As a medium part of my spiritual work is to visit people in their homes and I find it amazing how close and personal an experience it is both for me and my client.

So many times on these occasions I’ve burst into tears in other people’s homes, or at the very least not been able to fight back the lump in my throat, because of their loved ones visiting and communicating irrefutable proof of who they are and that life goes on after death.

Usually I feel so stupid for being so emotional. Why do I cry and make a fool of myself? Can anyone tell me, please? I mean, we have to be very sensitive to do the work we do, but to actually cry along with the client? Well, I’m fed up with it, spirit!
