Can you learn to be a psychic? In my opinion the short answer is, yes. While some people are more naturally gifted than others, it is my belief that being psychic is something that can be learned. The question is whether you should learn to be psychic, or not. To answer this question I will explore using one of my favorite subjects…coffee!

“But Dixie”, I can hear you asking, “what does coffee have to do with learning to be psychic… or using tarot cards, or runes, or anything intuitive?” Well, truth be told, I feel that coffee can be related to just about anything.

Let me tell you about my relationship with coffee. I love it. It’s my favorite drink and I regularly drink about three to six cups a day. I adore it’s taste, smell, and texture. I guess you could say that I’m an aficionado. I can taste the difference between various roasts, as well as the countries the coffee came from, and whether it was grown organically, or not. A friend of mine called me the other day, desperate for someone to go to the movies with him. He wanted to see the new Nicholas Cage film.

I asked him why he didn’t just go on his own? I appreciated the offer, of course, but we aren’t very close as friends and we rarely see a movie together.

“I can’t go alone!” He exclaimed, “No one sees movies alone!”

I was a bit dumbstruck. I go see movies alone all the time, but I decided to put any hurt feelings that statement may have caused to the side and instead I grabbed my purse and went out to enjoy my time with my friend, despite the fact that I had to endure some truly horrible acting! This morning I woke up with a song stuck in my head. This is a simple statement, and I’m sure everyone has said it at some point.

You wake up in the middle of the night, get up for some water, and this song is playing over and over in your head. Sometimes just a line or two from a song. You hum it a few times, you go back to bed, and it’s still there in the morning. You get your coffee and it’s still there. It’s there until lunch, until dinner, and you spend most of the day humming or singing it at work, in line at the supermarket, at home while checking email.

We get so used to this that we don’t even consider what spirit might be trying to tell us by giving our mind this song to play over and over. What, you may ask, are you talking about? I once read the personal story of a woman who was searching beyond the norm for spiritual meaning. She had been going to psychic readings, telekinetic spoon-bending workshops and séances.

In time she really branched out and experimented with numerous things. Her sister thought she was a real ‘oddball’ for it…a few peas short of a casserole, so to speak.

The sister was far more pragmatic. She didn’t really believe in the spiritual realm or the unseen. She was a ‘get things done’ kind of person, who lived nearly entirely in the moment – planning, organizing and making sure her family ran according to the clock. Read the rest of this entry »
