I have discovered over the past week some new and different insights. What strikes me as being odd is that these are the same particular insights that I’ve had before. But yet, they felt somehow different and even more awakening took place for me this time, than when they first appeared.

What I’ve noticed is that the very things we try to avert or turn away from, for example, something about ourselves or some label or diagnosis that we’ve been given, tend to haunt us. It seems that the more we try to get away from these things the more they close their grip on us.

When you don’t acknowledge particular things in your life, because you’re afraid that you may be focusing on the negative aspects too much, you actually are giving attention to it. Denial doesn’t simply mean that they go away; it means that we strengthen it with just as much lack of focus, as we do when we are intensely focusing on it. I was recently at an acting class where we were working on how to develop a character. We were given a personal piece to work on that we would perform in front of the class.

After I had done my part, my teacher had explained me that I had a problem that most actors have, namely that I expected the performance to be perfect the first time around. There was no in-between. I didn’t want to do the monologue if the character wasn’t already fully developed.

He then began to walk me through steps to develop my character even more deeply. “Let’s try an accent. No, that didn’t work. Let’s play it as if you were angrier. Yes, that’s closer. Now let’s play it as though you don’t give a hoot! Perfect! Now we have something to work with.” Read the rest of this entry »

Are you completely aware that what you think or believe as an individual completely affects the world? Are you aware of the power that you have as one person to change the world’s perceptions and beliefs?

There will be those, of course, who hold different intentions for the world, but be selfish with your intent. It is by individual projections that we change the way this planet is. Do not allow the world to change and then go along with those changes. Set the course and be apart from what is not wanted.

Through the contrast, you determine what it is that you want in your relationships, in your careers and your spiritual world. But pay no more attention to the contrast than noticing the desires and wants that come from those. For by continually focusing on what happened or how we wanted that to be different, we are in fact creating more of the unwanted. Read the rest of this entry »

Have you ever been in that situation where you feel stuck, or not making as much progress as you believe you should or you are not where you thought you should be at this time in your life?

We all feel that way sometimes. And when I say all, I mean even those of us who supposedly know better and teach others how to live.

It is a misnomer to think that there will be a point someday when all of your troubles go away and you will have reached bliss or enlightenment.

Not to discourage you – you can definitely reach a state of beingness where you allow everything to come to your life. I still go through life and its little ups and downs, and I don’t pretend that it is otherwise. I just may work with it differently than some people. Read the rest of this entry »
