I developed as a medium in a Spiritualist church and one of my first experiences of astral travel was while tuning into spirit in the development circle. I was joined on this journey by my favorite uncle.

I was very close to my uncle before he passed away. As a child it would break my heart when he had finished his holiday with us and would have to go back to work hundreds of miles away.

So naturally, as I grew older, I decided I would like to live and work with him in London. I longed to see the bright lights and be a part of the excitement of city life, but be safe too. Sadly, he passed away before anything could come of my plans. I missed him terribly. He taught me all I knew about spirit and ghostly visitations, so it seemed fitting that he should take me on my first trip into the spiritual realm.

The day I had my first astral projection experience, I was in trance state and I was aware of sitting on a bench in a park with my uncle. When we arose to continue our walk, which we did often while he was here on earth, I could hear and feel the twigs and gravel crunch under my feet.

He showed me the most beautiful, gigantic flowers and the scent was gorgeous. Those flowers were breathing and vibrant and had the most luminous colors. It was a scene of breathtaking beauty. The air was warm and fresh and I felt very alive.

We didn’t bump into anyone else along the way and I realize now that this was an educational spiritual trip he had taken me on that was meant to serve as a lesson. It is an out-of-body experience I will never forget and it remains firm in my memory. I often find myself trying to see those flowers again, when I am concentrating, but nothing can compare to that first visit.

My spiritual teacher in church asked me that day where I had been and I said I had visited my uncle who was in spirit. She said that it good for him to let me briefly cross over to the other side, but to bring me back, because I was needed here and had a lot of God’s work to do.

We can enjoy Heaven now. We can have half of the enjoyment ahead of time by looking forward to it, thinking about it, reading about it and anticipating it ~ David Brandt Berg

It is truly wonderful to know that, when it is our time to go home to spirit, we will be surrounded by peace, love and serenity. The great beauty of spirit will unfold itself and we shall be taken to our true home. We will also be reunited with family and pets that we love and who love us in return.

In general I have no fear of crossing over into spirit, but in particular I look forward to being reunited in the afterlife with loved ones, both human and animal. I will certainly be expecting my Mum and Dad to come for me. I might be 57 years old, but not a minute goes by when they are not in my thoughts – more so because I am a medium and I am aware of spirit all the time.
