Bartering, Balloon Rides And A Lime Green Billboard
I will say that as a professional psychic medium, I get all kinds of people, from many walks of life who like to barter, i.e. trade goods or services without the exchange of money. Some of the things that I end up with (or more often end up passing on to others) can be pretty darn interesting.
In spiritual work one hand washes the other. Help and you shall be helped. If more people would step on board with this theory, many would live a much more comfortable and happy life. We should be teaching each other more often, and share our knowledge.
In my private business, many people cannot pay. Sometime they have just lost a child to the spirit realm and, of course, I am not going to charge them to speak with their son or daughter. I do not have it in me to do that, especially if it had only been a year or two since the crossing.
He who wants to barter, usually knows what is best for him ~ African Proverb
Often times these bereaved parents will sit there, and be very adamant and prideful, refusing to accept my help for free. That is when I have to come up with something to resolve the deadlock in negotiations. I would then have to say something like: “Okay, well do you knit? My grandchild could use some mittens this winter.”
So what have I accumulated with all this bartering? Well, the first thing that stands out in my mind is two very expensive hot air balloon rides, which I have yet to schedule. It will have to wait until next spring, or preferably next fall, when all of the beautiful colors of nature are popping out all over the place. My client requested a series of readings over a period of time in exchange for the balloon adventure. So, we kept track, and I in turn got the tickets. I probably would have never splurged on it myself. So, hey, it is all good.
Oh, I also like this one: I get my dogs groomed now from the bartering system. Yeah, and it’s amazing how much less attentive I am as a parent when I am bartering. When bartering some clothes for the kids I am like, “Oh, yeah, looks great”, and then I would hurry them out the door. But when I am paying for the goods, I am checking them out all over, making sure they aren’t poorly cut, uneven, missing a few buttons, whatever. We attach so much emphasis to money, too much.
I also trade readings with other lightworkers, and that has been very interesting at times, to say the least. Some of my reading partners are psychics, some mediums, or both. Some claim to have no ability at all. I know that Spirit can and does work through each of us, so I take a chance on them. When they tell me they are not psychic I say, “Well, we will just have to see about that.” Well, I have had some great readings that way!
All government, indeed every human benefit and enjoyment, every virtue, and every prudent act, is founded on compromise and barter ~ Edmund Burke
I always tell people who are trying to ‘see’, that everything they pick up on, any little thing, is important – a flash of color, a calm feeling, whatever. Their expressions are sometimes priceless… as if squeezing their eyes anymore would make a message come. I always find a place for their words to fit into my life, because I am so proud that they even tried in the first place.
I have also bartered for business signage for my office, which is something wonderful to barter for, because it is aesthetically pleasing. It has been a great source of pride, except for the fact that the original swatch didn’t look nearly as bright, and now the lime green billboard is blinding motorists who cruise along that busy stretch of highway! Pretty sure when I was told to ‘shine my light’, it didn’t mean my business sign!
Being a psychic medium hasn’t changed the fact that I, like most people, still barter with the Big Guy upstairs.
If you just let him live, I will…
Please, just send oil for that family freezing this winter, and I will help…
What do you mean there’s no chance of survival, what if I…
I know that God is waiting for me to stop stomping my foot down and begging for the ultimate barter. The more people I sit with through their end of life process, the less I barter. I know that it is all in God’s time. And as much as I think He should explain some of it – that which we just cannot comprehend – I just have to trust that there are some things that we simply cannot barter for.

Dear Soaring Spirit: Wonderful blog! The day is fast coming when bartering will be in vogue and necessary on a larger scale than at the present. Hooray for you for putting it out into the universe. Blessings, Dr. Rachel
