Rediscovering Your Intuition

Click Here NOW for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comWhat sets psychics and mediums apart from everybody else? Why is it that we can see, hear and feel things that other people apparently cannot? There doesn’t seem to be a straight and definite answer to this question.

It appears that psychic ability, or ‘the gift,’ may be passed down in our genetic code, which implies that only a select few are inherently capable of being psychics and mediums. But, is this all there is to it?

Is it merely a question of being born with unique gifts, that the majority of people simply can never have, or is it a matter of following a certain life path, with associated experiences and attitudes, which then prompts or enables someone to develop certain abilities or skills that mostly lie dormant in others? Is being psychic the result of nature, or nurture?

As with many others forms of human ability and achievement, psychic ability is probably a combination of nature and nurture. It is likely that certain people are born with predispositions to certain psychic abilities, such as clairvoyance or mediumship. However, like all other human talents, these gifts still need to be nurtured if they are to grow and evolve.

However, I also do believe that everybody has a certain degree of psychic ability, more commonly known as ‘intuition.’ This is not to say that anyone can be a psychic medium – just as anyone cannot be an accomplished artist or sports star. It simply means that there is probably a base level of intuitive ability present in all human beings, and that some of us have more of it than others.

Intuition is neither the ability to engage prophesy nor a means of avoiding financial loss or painful relationships. It is actually the ability to use energy data to make decisions in the immediate moment ~ Carolyn Myss

The Oxford Dictionary defines intuition as the ability to understand something instinctively, without the need for conscious reason, and as a thing that one knows or considers likely from instinctive feeling rather than conscious reasoning. I believe intuition is a natural part of our consciousness, yet it is an ability that tends to be denigrated in our modern way of thinking. Our society wants facts and figures, tangible proofs. These are important in many areas of our daily lives, but intuition also has its role to play.

This brings me to my main point. Aside from possible differences in genetic make-up and inherent predisposition, what really sets psychic mediums apart from everyone else, is that we are more inclined to listen to our intuition. We haven’t tuned out that inner voice, or turned down the volume, like so many other people have. Whereas intuition is a barely discernible whisper for some, for us it is clearly audible voice… sometimes even a shout!

As psychics we have developed ways to no longer suppress that inner voice – a suppression that is unfortunately the norm for the majority. For some of us this journey is more challenging than others.

How actively are you engaging your natural intuition on a daily basis? Once you realize that a much stronger interaction with spirit and the unconscious can be achieved through reawakening your intuition, a process of liberation begins, whereby anyone who has been firmly and dogmatically centered in the physical world, can start to open up to what lies beyond.

Again, this is not to say that everyone is meant to become a professional psychic medium, but it will make you more receptive to communications that spirit is gently trying to have with you.

The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift ~ Albert Einstein

So, one of the most important things that we as psychics and mediums can do, is not to merely convey messages to those who consult with us, but rather to also encourage them to nurture their intuition, to slowly turn up the volume of their own inner voice, and listen more carefully to it. Not only can they then be more receptive to the messages they receive from spirit, by means of gifted mediums, they could also be more attuned to the subtler communications they are receiving all the time in the world around them: hunches, forebodings, impulse, signs and synchronicities.

Our main task as psychics and mediums is to improve the emotional and spiritual well-being of the people we read for, which makes the rediscovery of their own intuition an aim that we should promote above all else.
