The Chakras – Our Windows To The World

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.com‘Chakra’ is an ancient Sanskrit word meaning wheel, cycle and circle. Sanskrit is said to be a language of universal sound, meaning that each word has an intentional vibration that connects us to the Universe and the wisdom it holds.

The Chakras are spinning vortices (wheels or circles) of energy located on either side of the spine and positioned in different locations, from the tailbone up to the crown of the head. They are each associated with certain glands in the endocrine system, as well as other aspects of our physical body. They are not of the physical body, but are an integral part of our physical experience. It is through these energy centers that the life energy of our physical body is sustained.

Why are the Chakras important to us? They are a map of our inner being, our relationship to ourselves and how we experience life and the world around us. Life is energy. The same energy that flows through all of Creation, also flows through us. The Chakras interact with this Universal Life Force and animate the various aspects of our life, from the universal, through the individual and into the earth, then back again.

The chakras are very intelligent they are like the software of the whole computer body ~ Dharma Mittra

The Chakras are not just some curiosity to study, but we should engage, identify and interact with them. Energy is always moving and changing, and being aware of our Chakras allows us to facilitate the flow of the Life Force through us in a healthy way.

The Chakras are how we send and receive energetic information. A healthy and balanced Chakra system means we are sending and receiving healthy and balanced energetic information. An unhealthy and unbalanced Chakra system means we are sending out and receiving in unhealthy and unbalanced information. Balancing the energy of an over- or under-active Chakra is accomplished by refocusing our attention and putting our intention on creating the energy we desire.

Energy is the driving force behind movement – every movement, big or small. This energetic movement internally creates our external world. Example, if we are feeling sluggish mentally, it’s hard for us to have any ‘pep in our step.’ When we are in the flow of this internal energy and we allow ourselves to express it externally, life literally flows. When we aren’t, life becomes forced’ or laborious.

When we intentionally work with our Chakras, we are bringing clarity to our experiences. I liken it to looking out a window. How clean it is will dictate how clearly you can see through it. A daily Chakra cleansing practice is highly encouraged, not only to connect with, but also to be aware of and in control of the energy that flows in and out of our being. We must keep the windows to our soul clean and clear!

There are seven Major Chakras according to the Hindu tradition. There are several other chakras found in other cultural traditions and belief systems, but I find working with these basic seven gives us all the connection we need to work with the energy we need. Of course if you feel guided, also check out the other chakra systems and see what resonates with you.

  • Great read! I love this part: “I liken it to looking out a window. How clean it is will dictate how clearly you can see through it.” I never thought of it that way but it is such a good analogy.
