Tarot Court Cards And The People In Your Life

click here for a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comA psychic might use the Tarot as a tool to ‘fine tune’ into the direction of the energies she sees around you and your question. The court cards in Tarot typically represent the people and personality energies in your reading.

The querent may for example ask the psychic about a certain love interest, or a situation at work. The way I read is that I tune into the question and see a certain person, or people, but then I may also do a Tarot spread to gain more details about them.

If many of the cards in the reading are court cards, it generally means that your question is much more complicated by the energies and presence of other people. For example, if you are interested in a certain new man, I would tune into the guy clairvoyantly and maybe see a man who is very interested in you. This may seem like great news on the surface, but sensing other energies, I might then lay out a love Tarot spread… and lo and behold, there might be two Queens, a Knight, and several Pages influencing the situation!

In this example, the Queens might be in the recent past and present positions in the spread. This means your love interest has other important women in his life. Perhaps he is a divorcee with children of different ages, and he is actively co-parenting. The queen in the present position may be you, and he is currently thinking of you.

Many of us find the vast archetypes of a nuanced major arcana card like the Tower more accessible than an unassuming little card like the Page of Cups! ~ Carrie Mallon

Let’s say you just recently met him and are not yet aware of some aspects of his personal life. The other cards surrounding the court cards would give me more details about his situation and relationship dynamics, and whether your future relationship will be affected by his current and past relationships.

In any case, court cards may alert us as to the people that surround your issue, but they also tell us about the energies those people bring to the reading. They alert us as to the age, appearance, direction, astrological timing, vocation, and personality. Because many events and situations have an energy and personality too, court cards, may symbolize that as well. I discussed some of the astrological aspects of the Tarot in a previous blog post.

There are 16 court cards, in four suits that relate to the cardinal, fixed and mutable astrological points of air/swords, fire/wands, water/cups, and earth/pentacles. Like regular playing cards, there is a King, Queen, Knight and Page in every suit.

The way readers interpret the court cards vary and is subjective. I generally attribute certain traits according to quadruplicity, but also according to the cards, astrological sign and the type of vocation, looks, and type of person typified by the direction of the suit, as well as the month of the individual sign.

In the following chart, I have divided the suits into signs, energy and people the card represents. This list is by no means static.

Air: Libra, Aquarius and Gemini.
Wands: Aries, Leo and Sagittarius
Cups: Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces
Earth: Capricorn, Taurus, Virgo

I think what makes us human is our interconnectedness among people. It’s our ability to form and maintain relationships. It’s the barometer by which we call ourselves human ~ Thomas Jane

Knights are very important because exhibit the energy of movement and change. They mark the beginning or the end of a situation. It is said that when a Knight appears in a reading, a long-term condition will change. In a reading about people, they represent young adults.

Queens are generally women or represent feminine traits and have the energy of the cardinal point signs. Kings are generally mature males and seem to exhibit the all the energies of the suit, but I generally see a King of Wands as a Sagittarius first, the Kings of Cup as a Cancer, and The King of Pentacles as a Taurus.

Of course, these are first impressions and I can tune in to the exact energy of the person into the reading. A card may not represent that person’s sign or sex at all, but instead may represent that person’s appearance or the energy traits of that card.

Pages are young people, children, babies and messages. They exhibit the energies of the mutable signs as well as first impressions and emotions. I often see Pages in the future as children who are coming into the person’s life, or the start of something new, perhaps a job or person the person will love. This of course depends on the individual reading.

When court cards reverse, they seem to represent lessons the person is ignoring or needs to learn, and that person is  exhibiting negative traits. Each reading is different. A card may appear to represent a person who is now exhibiting traits of a card that is different from his or her sign, age, or sex. The card may tell the general time of year, but I see actual dates very clearly clairvoyantly.
