Walk Gently When Being Self-Aware

Click picture to get a free psychic reading at PsychicAccess.comMany of us work hard on our personal evolution, self-awareness, and spiritual growth. Sometimes this takes us down the trail of intense self-criticism, often leading to disparaging thoughts that we will never get ‘better’ or be ‘good enough.’ I have traveled down this dark trail many times myself.

In addition to this being a very cruel way to treat yourself, this radioactive attitude leaks out into other relationships in our life. Even if it does not manifest in overt ways, we all know energy travels, and energy travels all the time. Self-hatred cannot be contained; it changes the orbits of our electrons.

If I have lost confidence in myself, I have the universe against me ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

In extreme cases we might even think Spirit made a mistake with placing us on the Earth. If we bottom out with that thought, it helps to remember that we should not try to out-create the Creator. The platypus, porcupine, skunk, wolverine, and maggot, are all works of the Creator and all have a place in this world. None is better or worse than the other. So, who are we to decide we are a mistake?

We alone cannot ruin anything. We are always in relationship to something and Spirit is always working in our life, whether we acknowledge it or not. It happens just like breathing air is always occurring, whether we are paying attention to it or not.

Change starts immediately, simply by becoming more self-aware. We know that protons and neutrons in atoms change their orbit the moment they are observed. When we consider something, when we observe, we emit energy and that energy changes orbits, and orbits change all the other orbits around them.

Change is microscopic so we don’t have to take a hammer and chisel to our own sweet self. Change is inherent in every moment of life. The moment two dogs look at each other they begin to change. The moment we consider and reflect upon our actions, energy travels and we start to shift.

A rose does not criticize itself for being not such a good rose. It just continues to be the best rose it can be, given the circumstances it’s living in.

I was brought up to believe that how I saw myself was more important than how others saw me ~ Anwar el-Sadat

A gentler way to look at what we might call ‘ruining’ relationships or circumstances in our life would instead be to look at choices we’ve made and how we might like to do it differently in the future. When on a spiritual path, we can take inventory of our day and examine how we handled the events and encounters of the day, including our interactions with our self. Then we can spend some time reflecting on how we could have handled the day with more love, compassion, patience and humor.

We can also pray for guidance to help us with our desire to react differently in the future. This way we gently grow and are able to make different choices based on time spent in self-reflection, prayer and meditation. Time spent on these activities are fertilizer for the soul and can bring forgiveness, add patience, compassion, humor and inner peace to our daily life. There is no self-criticism here, only self consideration. This is a non-violent, organic, kind and compassionate way to grow closer to our self, and to enhance our spiritual connection.
