Many years ago I read a story about the Nazi’s experimenting on prisoners of war. One story involved an experiment with two men who were strapped to tables and blindfolded. A researcher slit their wrists and they would bleed out, wanting to know who would bleed out the fastest. At least that is what the prisoners were told.
It was a horrible experiment with shocking results. One man’s wrist was slashed, the other had a piece of ice slashed across his arm that did not break the skin. Both men could hear the blood pouring into a bucket on the floor beside them. The Nazi’s poured water into his skin to give the sensation of bleeding. Incredibly, this poor soul died too! Why? Because he thought and believed he was bleeding.
You are today where your thoughts have brought you; you will be tomorrow where your thoughts take you ~ James Allen
The implication is simple, yet profound: a belief accepted as truth doesn’t mean it is truth. This is a powerful statement, it struck me as soon as I heard it. It brings the power of our thoughts to the forefront. How many articles have been written about just this subject, the power of our beliefs?
We have all accepted things we have been told as truths because the information came from a source of authority. The authority of our parents, teachers, politicians, piers, pastors, or media. If it’s on the television news, then it must be true. If it’s on the Internet, then it must be true.
There are many moments throughout our lives that make us stop and question, make us doubt and wonder. Why? because what seems evident at first glance does not resonate with our souls or our psyche. This is the moment when we begin the journey into self-discovery and uncover truths that resonate with us. These truths may not come from any other source other than yourself.
Once I realized that it was okay to question, and gave myself permission to think outside the box, everything changed for me. It’s taken me years to shed feelings of guilt over not thinking, saying or doing what the majority did or believed.
You have powers you never dreamed of. You can do things you never thought you could do. There are no limitations in what you can do except the limitations of your own mind ~ Darwin P. Kingsley
Understand that mankind is controlled by fear and guilt, and it starts at birth. I have mentioned this in a previous blog: the only two things a baby knows when it is born is the fear of falling and loud noises. Everything, and I mean everything else is taught to us.
What is the link between the power of the human mind and the Universe? Everything. We know it, we read about it, we experience life altering moments that are far too profound to even put into words. And when this happens there is a need to seek out others who have also had such metaphysical, spiritual, or mind-altering moments, in order to share with someone that understands it. Mostly it is to know that we are not alone.
No, you are not alone.
When you have had this life altering experience, you know that the mind is powerful and that it is connected to something bigger than yourself. There are no words, just a profound knowing in that moment. That moment was a gift and there are no words, but yet we still trip along trying to explain that omnipotent, connected, vibrating, earth shattering moment to others.
Have you ever had moments where you had an off-handed thought and the next thing you know it has manifested itself? I love those! Then you have most likely also felt the frustration of sending out a positive wish or thought, and constantly dwelling on it in vain. Sometimes it manifests in time, but mostly it does not. The solution is clear: if we could learn to simple pull in what we need or want in total belief in one moment and then let it go, dramatic changes could happen in our worlds.
The greatest force is derived from the power of thought. The finer the element, the more powerful it is. The silent power of thought influences people even at a distance, because mind is one as well as many. The universe is a cobweb; minds are spiders ~ Swami Vivekananda
The moment you put out a thought it is in progress. If you pull it back and alter it or doubt it, in other words dwell on it, mixed messages are going out. The results of those mixes messages will manifest.
If the unfortunate prisoner in the Nazi experiment would have doubted what he was being told, he may have very well lived. After all the atrocities he had already lived through, why would this not be fact? He did not doubt, he knew what he was told, and had no reason not to believe it. He had an outcome that his mind had completely accepted as truth.
How many times have you read or heard about feats of superhuman strength? Mothers lifting cars off their children. People running from life threatening danger and sailing over high walls or fences they would normally not be able to get over. How did they do it? They just didn’t believe for one second that they couldn’t. The only goal was saving her child or escaping danger. That is true power: believing without question.
Take care what you feed your mind. Feel your instincts and follow them as closely as you can, and if it doesn’t resonate with you, put it aside. Think, therefore you are. Share ideas and theories with others. Seek out your own truth and learn how to harness your strength in mind. Your soul will lead the way.
