Believing in a spiritual path, and understanding the path that you follow, only takes place when you have learned things. Do not expect others to follow the path that you are walking and do not expect others to understand you or the decisions you have made along your own path. For your discoveries and what it is that you have learned are different from what others have experienced.
Try to remember to treat others with kindness and compassion at all times. It will help in this endeavor if you remembered that a year, 10 years or 20 years ago you too thought differently and your understanding has changed. A spiritual belief is not given to you by anybody – it is a path that you follow based on your own experiences and needs. For this reason, it should make sense that no other can follow that exact path of awareness.
It is only imperfection that complains of what is imperfect. The more perfect we are, the more gentle and quiet we become toward the defects of others. ~ Francois de Fenelon
You can never tell whether your understanding is greater or less than the understanding of another – not only because you cannot know the thoughts of others, but also because you cannot know the mind of Great Spirit.
So, do not draw comparisons between yourself and others. That path creates a pattern of judgment which is often cruel, unkind and unjust. Rather, when you think of your own spirituality, compare it with your previous levels of understanding. Ask yourself rather: “Have I learned and has my own wisdom increased?”
Judging others and trying to decide what is good for them requires the knowledge, understanding and compassion of Great Spirit, and there will never be a time when any in the material planes, your own earth included, will be able to make a fair comparison of the belief of any other.
In just this same way, others are in no position to criticize your spiritual path and knowledge. So, when others do this (and they will), simply remember that there are times when you have also thought that others are on the ‘wrong’ spiritual path. Then try to understand that the individual or group that is passing judgment is simply deluding themselves as to their ability to understand.
Endeavour to be always patient of the faults and imperfections of others for thou has many faults and imperfections of thine own that require forbearance. If though are not able to make thyself that which thou wishest, how canst though expect to mould another in conformity to they will? ~ Thomas A Kempis
When you deal with children, you give to them more of your patience and understanding compassion than you do to adults, because you know that they have much to learn and do not fully understand. In just this way should you regard those who choose to tell you that your spiritual belief is incorrect – try to think of them as children who have yet to learn.
Each will follow the path that Great Spirit has direct for them, and none, absolutely none, are entirely correct or entirely incorrect. Just as you have been directed to this place in your knowledge and understanding, so too have others been led to where they are in their understanding, no matter what their belief. All have been guided by Great Spirit to the place of their own spiritual perfection. Everyone has been created perfect for the path that they must walk, and so each moment of every life is perfection in its own way.
