Gentle Suggestions, Thunderous Claps

Visit PsychicAccess.comHow do I know I’m making the right decision, or going the right direction?

We all struggle with following our intuition (soul-self or spirit) or our minds, rationalizing perceptions of the outcome based on the emotions attached to it. I do, and I have. I have spent years learning this particular lesson over and over again.

A friend of mine once said she saw the two of us standing together. She was wrapping my hands in bandages and said, “you don’t have to keep touching it to know it’s hot”. Yes, my intuition has been so very wrong at times. But how can that be? I teach others to follow their inner guidance, and yet, how many times when I did not follow my own intuition, did I have to give myself the I-told-you-so lecture afterwards?

There was a time in my life when I was going through painful personal struggles, and I was hurt again and again. Why did I keep doing the same thing over and over?

My intuition regarding the situation was that this was the path that I was to walk, yet the outcome was negative. How can I trust that this is the right thing to do, if all I accomplish is failure? My spirit and my ego were having the battle of a lifetime, and I had to make a decision.

You must train your intuition – you must trust the small voice inside you which tells you exactly what to say, what to decide – Ingrid Bergman

So many times we are thrown off our life path during our existence, not because we are going the wrong direction, but because we aren’t getting the message.

For example, recently a client asked the Universe for more patience. The messages were coming through thick and fast…her patience was being tested at every turn! And here is the kicker – in the end she realized it wasn’t her patience that was lacking, but rather she was not reading the messages correctly.

The real issue was frustration with her own behavior in certain areas. This was presented in the form of a mirror, because she was stuck in a place where she could not move forward herself, every dealing she had was with others, who also could not step forward in some area of their lives. Thus was the feeling that she needed more patience, when in reality she only had to look at the reflection she was giving off.

I believe I have touched on pulling in either negative or positive energy. My client was pulling in energy equivalent to exactly where she was herself. Once that awareness was acknowledged, her patience was no longer being tested, which confirmed that she was now doing the right things for herself.

I was faced with the same issues at the time, and felt frustration with her. That was my red flag. I was mirroring her, same issue. I could not move forward, as a matter of fact I could barely move at all! When in doubt about something, to do nothing isn’t always the best advice. Yes, we certainly do need our time for contemplation and rest, but our lives will move forward with or without us.

Good instincts usually tell you what to do long before your head has figured it out – Michael Burke

My messages were being driven home. Not only in emotional dealings, but physically as well. I developed sciatica. If you have ever experienced this, you’ll know what I mean. I was literally dragging my one leg around. The pain was excruciating, due to a pinched nerve. I was struggling to move around at all, until it got so bad that I was bed-ridden. I needed to make some decisions, and trust that they were the right ones; and they were. All I had to do was move!

Interestingly enough, the sciatica miraculously disappeared. I am happy to report it hasn’t come back either. My intuition was correct after all, but I was letting my ego make the decision for me, thus I got myself into a huge mess.

Confirmation can come in the form of a gentle suggestion, or a thunderous clap. Either way, you will know it when you feel it.

This is not to say that every decision is a struggle, or will cause you pain or difficulties. Not every outcome is exactly the way you had it pictured in your mind, yet everything that happens to us and in our lives serves a purpose.

I have learned over time that when I know I’m doing the right thing, I feel peaceful. There are always lessons to learn. The journey to get there is filled with twists and turns, but it can be an exciting time of discovery. You need to trust that something good will be the result, even if it means feeling the pain first. Enjoy the euphoria that results!
