Karmic Relationship Ties That Bind Us

Get a free psychic reading right now at PsychicAccess.comA karmic connection, whether to a person or a pet, is a bond that has been there for lifetime upon lifetime. Because we are linked to another soul also somewhere on the astral, a karmic bond doesn’t simply sever when we physically detach from an individual in this world. Invisible tubular type cords connect us to various people and animals throughout many dimensions and incarnations.

I believe that those we have loved, whether girlfriend, boyfriend, or spouse, not to mention certain more challenging family members, even work associates, can fall into this category of being karmically linked to us. Because the bond is actually linking us on the astral plane, it isn’t always straightforward to cut.

We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects ~ Herman Melville

Karmic relationships last a lifetime unless we cut them off. You can identify a relationship of this nature when, for example you reminisce about someone you haven’t seen in a long time, and they keep coming bouncing back into your thoughts. These cords of attachment are connected to one or more chakras of both of you.

Logically we may think we are done with a certain relationship, but energetically we are still connected to the other person. Betrayal and heartache in a relationship creates a cord between the heart chakras of two individuals. We tend to re-live the pain, and experience an energy drain in doing so, because of these cords that bind us.

Do you suddenly, start thinking of an old flame even though you have long lost touch? Energetically and through those cords that bind you, you may be feeling some discomfort they are going through, or even have a sense that somehow you will reconnect with them this lifetime.

A traumatic event, emotional or sexual bonding, making promises, contracts, and vows all bind us, and we often feel we have unfinished business with someone if a promise or vow was broken or unfulfilled. We can ultimately break these ties and it will benefit all parties concerned if it is done for the highest good of all.

In painful relationships, the experiences created become embedded in our soul memory and in any subsequent relationship the frequency of those negative experiences, like heartbreak, abuse, betrayal and so forth, will attract to us people, places, times, things and events that resonate with the frequency of those unhappy situations.

Many love-hate relationships stem from past lifetimes and we attract a particular soul into our lives in order to resolve the karma once and for all, hence the relationships in families being amongst the most challenging of all. Unfortunately, if we haven’t learned that we no longer need, nor accept those negative lessons anymore, when we manifest a new relationship, all the past hurt and discomfort is brought into the new one, and the cycle repeats itself. Such energy blocks actually become more solid until we become aware that we are worth much more than being in an unhappy or abusive existence.

The ties that bind us are sometimes impossible to explain. They connect us, even after it seems like the ties should be broken. Some bonds defy distance, and time, and logic. Because some ties are simply… meant to be ~ M.G.

When we realize our self worth, we will no longer require painful relationships; we will have taken our power back and we will not attract such lessons. I feel the priority then, is to work on our own self worth and to only cut ties with someone if the relationship is holding us back, or hurtful. Feeling guilty over past things said, or done, helps nobody. If we have learned a lesson, then there will be no need for repeat action.

Here are some simple steps to help you cut ties between you and another person that may be draining you right now.

  • Relax, preferably lying down doing some deep breathing until you feel completely relaxed.
  • With your eyes closed, think of the individual you wish to cut ties with.
  • Imagine that person standing several feet away from you and a tubular cord connecting their belly button to your belly button.
  • Imagine cutting that cord with a large pair of golden scissors. Visualize the other person withdrawing, as they become smaller and smaller, and the background gradually enveloping them.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly and give them a good shake, imagining any negative residue being shaken off.

I sometimes find the person I have just cut the cord with rather anxious to reconnect with me, because they will feel the disconnection just made. There should be no need to repeat the cutting process.

  • Hi Shani, excellent write up, loved it!!! So if there is no need to repeat the cutting process what happens if the individual doesn’t leave you alone? And what if we are weak and accept them back, should it be repeated then?

  • As always a very insightful blog which gives me lots of food for thought. Thank you Shani.

  • Hello, Thank you for your article and insight:) , wanted to ask: What is the spiritual purpose of suffering devastating type heartbreak or unrequited love? I understand it’s a karmic/ star-crossed situation, but why? What lesson is in loving/ losing someone you would have lived for or truely died for? I have thought maybe a healing propose for the heart but when no such occurrences happened only for the heart to close to love what then? Thank you:)
